Thanks, Clint. The razor came from Fuzzy and I didn't know a lot about it when it came from him. I tried to find information, and found some discussion on some of the forums. The consensus seemed to be that it was a cheaply priced, stainless handled product out of Eastern Europe with a reputation for aggression. It is not vintage, but no longer in production, I believe.
The aggression comes from a very curved top with a fair amount of blade exposure. It is a very handle-heavy razor.
I used it for a week or so when I got it and this week will be the final shot for it- In rotation or gone.

Cool looking injector, Jim! As the precursor to the 'E', is the shave similar?

Beautiful picture, Clint! I'd like to know the percentage of us on here that started with either the 34C or an EJ89. I bet it would be quite close to all.

Thank you Jason. I would agree that many of us started on either the 34c or EJ89. They are both solid razors that work well. I really should use my 34c more often.

I said the same thing after using my EJ89 for the first time in almost a year at the beginning of the month. It is back in the 'rotation', even though my 'rotation' is really just a series of focusses.

    Thank you, Adam.

On the initial use, I would say the soaps are pretty similar. I didn't really get a complete shave in this morning, so I probably can't give an honest impression of the Crown King performance. The PAA was pretty good, close to where I would put Stirling, Route 66, Wholly Kaw, and Stubble Trubble. They appear to have changed their formula around a little, as I have a Deja Fougere from a few years ago that is not quite this good.

The Atomic Age Bay Rum is now my favorite Bay Rum scent. There is no clove in the scent, and it is obvious. I get the bay scent, obviously, along with some cinnamon and citrus. The AS has some Rum notes to it, and I also get a hint of vanilla, which I would attribute to the oak barrel aging.

Seems like it, but I will need a full shave to give it a fair assessment. Thank you for you kind words.

    Uh huh, Yup!

Thanks to our collective positive enabling, I purchased a single bar of "black soap". Haven't tried it yet, but I'll let y'all know if my slightly more refined single serving has any redeeming qualities.

+1 Definitely should be on your list. The performance is enough to overlook the scent if it doesn't agree with you. Or pass it to a lady as she might like it.

    Prep: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick G8 injector
    Brush: Omega Hi synthetic
    Lather: Speick cream
Post: Witch hazel, Speick aftershave, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch up

Nice shave with Speick cream today. It's really slick and protective. Lathers easily and bountifully. Always enjoy using Speick when I do.

Something about the water here really dries out my skin. I've been using balm the past few shaves and have had to scour to find some body lotion to use because my skin is dry and itchy. Funny how we get accustomed to our water at home and how a change of location can really change things up. Anyhow, all is well and the shave was good.

    Have a great day!

Quick shave update. The 34C is more efficient then the MJ-90 standard plate but less then the A plate and was able to deliver a BBS shave in 3 passes! I houir you are all having a nice day and wish you all a happy thanksgiving!

Btw, I was able to whip up a hell of a lather in my new bowl!

Another nice shave with Wild West Shave Co. This time it was Pinkerton. The packaging claims notes of: Mahogany, Teakwood, Lavender, Geranium, Cedarwood and Oak. It isn't quite as strong a scent as the other, but it's still pretty forward. It's a very nice scent, probably my favorite of the four scents I ordered from them.

Ingredients on these soaps are: tallow, stearic acid, water, glycerin, coconut oil, castor oil, potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, fragrance, and bentonite clay, if anyone was curious. I would love to have this scent in an aftershave/cologne. It's a bit sweet, floral and woodsy, but in a manly way. I dig it quite a bit.[IMG]
