No beer or football for me today, but I ordered a Maggard 22 mm synthetic brush and a LaToja shave stick for my travel kit and some hair Foofoo. I fell, but not as far as Wade. :happy102:

She is super excited about the progress since the surgery. Now the real hard work will start. We have all had a relaxing Thanksgiving day. I hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving day as well.

You didn't fall as all compared to Wade. He fell all the way down the stairs sprawled out with excess shaving gear. :happy097: I am proud of the restraint I've shown today, since I am usually the one that falls the furthest.

Well, that is about as awesome as it gets. Now, I may have to invest in one of these. My wife is going love that conversation.

Jim, if we're both engineers, then why does my Bride make me grill this way?

Ham and beans and cornbread here for Thanksgiving. :eatdrink020: As for herding the cats around here it isn't too hard. Most of you use the litter box pretty well and the purrs at the end of the day are rewarding. It's just the flipping fur all over everything that gets old.

It's hard to beat ham, beans, and cornbread!

And herding cats is not for the faint of heart.

Cool photo of some nice gear, Keith! Not your usual background, either.

Well, no Thanksgiving here in Canada today, but I did place a couple 'Black Friday' orders. Sigh. For those of you who like Jeeves of Hudson St products, they are on sale at canadianbladeco for very nice prices. $15 CAN for splashes, $17.50 for soaps. Thats about $12 and $14 USD respectfully. First Canadian Soap Co, Uncle Jons and Longrifle stuff on sale as well. If you like tobacco/citrus combos, First Canadian Maximo Gomez is a personal favourite.
I might have placed an IB order as well... my goodness, NB '18 needs to start asap. :lam:

edit: the real issue is the leevalley tools order I placed... the shaving orders pale in comparison.

If it wasn't for the luck of the draw in a door prize raffle, that is how my wife would have me grilling. Luckily, I get to use a Big Green Egg.

Took another shot at this edge, and got it dialed in finally. Used a welsh slate, and got the good edge I already had turned into an even more comfortable edge. I did four passes and some buffing on my neck, and just missed a BBS. Love the scent of this soap, it’s my favorite barbershop scent, hands down. A nice shave to end a nice holiday.

I would like to echo Neal’s thankfulness for this group and the little bit of real world connection I find in this corner of the interwebs.

    NOVember!!!

November 23 - Pot luck shaves

    Razor - 1946-47 Gillette Aristocrat
    Blade - treet-new-steelsmall.jpg (1)
    Soap - Soap Commander Courage
    Brush - 30 DC LE
    Post - Alum

Having tried all three of my new Stirling samples it's time to move on for a couple of days. I chose my Aristocrat, one of my personal faves and a very nice vintage razor, switched out the Treet Platinum for the Treet New Steel and whipped up Soap Commander with the 30 DC limited edition brush. Fine lather indeed.

I stayed with the three full passes like I did the past three shaves. I haven't done three passes for quite some time and I'm finding it enjoyable to slow down and take the time for that extra pass. I'm also on my fourth BBS in a row. The New Steel blade is as good as the Platinum for sure and the Aristocrat is a delight to use. All in all a great setup to finish a great Thanksgiving day off.

For me the relaxation is about to end. Black Friday awaits with an 8 a.m. opening, twelve hour shift on Friday, eleven on Saturday and seven on Sunday. All I can say is people better be there with lots of money and I do mean LOTS! Otherwise I'd just as soon be sleeping off the food I ate today. Have an enjoyable holiday weekend! Or, for those of you not CONUS, have your usual enjoyable weekend.

That sounds very nice, Jim. When I was working, our United Way committee raffled off a Big Green Egg each year during the annual fundraising. It looks like it would be a fantastic grill.

I've had a Weber Smoky Joe like this one for many years. I had a larger Weber charcoal grill for awhile, and in my dark days, I even had a gas grill. I'm back to my trusty Smoky Joe now. It does a great job on burgers, dogs, and cooked veggies, it's travel-ready, and it's big enough for my Bride and me. No high tech here, although I have started using quick light charcoal in my old age. There's nothing like tending a charcoal grill with a BBQ utensil in one hand, a drink in the other, and of course closely monitoring things from a lawn chair under a shade tree.

Lee Valley can be a real wallet killer. It's been even worse for me since the store opened in town to allow in-person browsing in addition to catalogue and then web shopping.

In the meantime, you Enabler you, I went and opened an account at Canadianbladeco and bought some Jeeves splashes to go with my soaps.
