    Sunday Shave

Took a break from the shave cream challenge and broke out the Castle Forbes. I dipped the tips of the brush in the CF and ended up with way too much lather, so I did an extra pass. One the first pass I got one weeper or it was a pimple that got mowed down, it is was the only thing that stood between me and an epic shave. Have a wonderful Sunday and end to T-Day holiday.

NOVember Focus intact, but for one Red Tip Diversion.

Still enjoying Ming Shi shaves though I don't recall what blade's in the razor. Used several samples of soaps; Coates lime, a rose and a lavender scented that might have been TOBS. Cycling ferrules/knots on the B-400 brush so it was Omega Pro 98 boar, WD High Mountain badger, or Tuxedo synthetic. Post shave care via Alum and Proraso products, or a blend of 3 leather AS's.
No photos of the gear, but I got to stretch my legs on a couple shopping trips to thrift and antique stores. Scored two Shulton Old Spice AS, a vintage Colgate soap puck, and two interesting razors. I think the cased Schick is an E-3. A Gillette from third quarter of 1970 also cleaned up nice.

Another day of visiting with my twin six year old granddaughters, two year old grandson, and assorted support staff. Then an all day long drive back to the house. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying friends and family! [IMG]

    NOVember!!!

November 25 - Pot luck shaves

    Razor - 1946-47 Gillette Aristocrat
    Blade - voskhod-teflon-coated.jpg (1)
Soap - Route 66 Bourbon Jungle
    Brush - Jayaruh #54
    Post - Alum

Well, I had made a point of avoiding Russians this month but who am I to avoid a challenge? @wristwatchb challenged me (yes that's a bit harsh of a term but go with it) to drop a Voskhod into the setup from last night and see how it performed. Now, I just can't say no to that kind of danger!! Besides, I was beyond curious as to how this razor and blade would work together. (Ignore the inaugural month of the 30DC where the Aristocrat and Voskhod were my rule that month.....seriously, didn't happen).

So, once again I grabbed the JR54 and Route 66 Bourbon Jungle and went after a lather. If last night's was the best Rt. 66 lather I've ever had then, it's now the second best. Really cushy, peaky and slick tonight. As good as it gets.

Three full passes with the Aristocrat and Voskhod (which I may or may not have christened the "detente setup" in the past) and I am completely shocked, surprised, and overjoyed that the baby is in the house, the shave was as smooth as silk and I skipped the alum since I knew I didn't need it and the face feel from the Bourbon Jungle was awesome. I would never have predicted it would be that successful. Who knows? I might have to stock a few Voskhods in my stash just to see if they are consistent (besides, I'm down to 464 of them in my stash, but who's counting).

Here's hoping Charlie will continue to throw me such challenging and surprising challenges!! Besides, it saved me taking a picture tonight as last night's is still applicable!

Ah, but can you get consistent results like that from that gear over two or even three shaves? sounds like a one-shot fluke to me... ;)

Great photo Perry. Love the B&W effect. I agree with you on Alabama. Many times they start out flat but last night they really never got it going. The Tide drove Asha do break out the whiskey.
