Everyone has one of those days at time. There is always tomorrow. One the soap. Load it "like it owes you money and is past due" and then add water until you get what you want. I suspect it was not enough soap that caused your issue today.

    Great lineup and photo. :happy088:

Great lineup and photo. I see the head slick in store and have wondered how it worked. Thanks for sharing.

Wow. For a guy with most of the stuff packed away, you're sure nailing it. :happy096:

I'll keep trying until I get it. I was using the "super goop" method...loading and starting to build lather on the puck. I'll bet I did that for 2-3 minutes. Then while applying to my face, I added water a little at a time. Probably at least five times. I'll give it a go in a bowl next time and see how that goes, just to get a feel for the amount of water I need to add.

Oddly enough, I used the same method with MWF and got perfect results. I'm gonna chalk it off to learning curve. Since that was only my 2nd use of Tabac, there's plenty more learning left in the container!

That's Rockit. He likes when shave. He tries to eat the soap. A little spritz of aftershave and just wallows in the floor for a while.

I have a few chiseled face samples for him. He doesn't get the good Stirling stuff. *loot prepares for the flames for C.F. fanboys*

Have a great time with her, Jim. I like to hope that my kids will remember those kind of times one day. Not vacation stuff, not an event per se, but just the times we were able to hang out together.

    It needs more water.

A guy can always mix a bowl for giggles, and keep slowly adding water until it breaks. Right before you added the last few drops that broke it? That’s as slick as it’s gonna get.

I should point out that even though I said the exact opposite thing that Clint did, I agree with him completely. My advice only holds true if you start with enough product. Tabac fluffs up pretty good early on, so perhaps you didn’t have enough loaded into the knot.

I know I am a complete dork about lather, but I have been known to use a scale when lathering a soap I cannot dial in, just to insure that I have a decent amount of product.

    Then goes the hydrant.

It's the weekend! :happy069: Time for the SEs!

Prep: Hone & strop blade, hot shower
    Coffee: Dirigo Blue Kenya, black
    Tunes: Pandora Shuffle
Soap: Jeeves Bay Rum - thanks @Drygulch !
Brush: Elite Razor 24mm silvertip set in red mallee burl
Str8: Robeson ShurEdge New Science Concave, 3 passes
Post: Cold water rinse, Dickensons WH
    Stink-Pretty: C&E West Indies Lime
Stache Care: Dirigo Blue 'Stache Stuff

My first time using Jeeves. They say the difference between bravery and stupidity is the outcome. Going with the unknown Jeeves for a str8 shave? I always make sure I have a soap known for being a bit slicker when Saturday St8 comes around. The outcome with Jeeves? I'm a brave man. Fanstastic lather, nice and slick, smells nice - I like it!

    Prep: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick G4 '66' injector
    Brush: Vulfix badger
    Lather: Arko
Post: Witch hazel, Speick aftershave, Stirling Glacial Unscented balm
    WTG, touch up

I joined the Arko train for a day. Not necessarily decadent as far as price but it's value can't be contested. @Bama Samurai is proving that right now since that one stubborn Arko stick has provided over 130 shaves. Amazing.

Good lather and nice results from the Schick 66. Really liked the Glacial balm from Stirling. COLD but soothing. Doesn't take much to get a great chill.

    Have a great weekend!

Addition to my shave report that I just thought about: My wife said "Mmmm, that smells good" upon application of the Speick aftershave this morning. That's a big win! :happy093:She's pretty picky about the splash scents.

A rare afternoon shave as I get ready to go out tonight to hear my wife play in the local symphony.
Day 2 of the DEcadent focus with the Cooper. Pulled out the Lavanille from my bank of samples, pressed some into the bottom of the bowl and whipped up enough lather for 9 passes. Seriously. I vastly overestimated how much I needed. At first sniff, a very complex scent.
3 passes later, and I am near BBS. No need for touchups, as it is the weekend, and just because. This Cooper is a stubble assassin, but, IMHO, isn’t a razor for those just starting out. It feels and sounds like a heavier, beefier Old Type, if that makes any sense.
Finished with the equally complex Bon Vivant. I picked the soap/AS combo as the CL website had Lavanille under its ‘recommended pairings’ page for Bon Vivant. I truly have no other AS like it, and that includes the other CLs I have. Unconditional Surrender and Gratiot League Square are at least in the same neighbourhood as each other. BV isn’t even in the same time zone. I can’t wrap my head around it, but I love it.
A few months ago I said that I had no burning desire to keep trying new scents from my usuals. I lied apparently, I want more CL.
    Have a great day all!
