Thank you, Jared. We had a good time, although the conference itself was not for parents, so I wondered around College Station for a while with some other dads. Lucy and I still had lots of fun last night at dinner and playing her 3DS in the hotel.

I loaded for 2-3 minutes, adding a little water at a time. Then I added more, probably five times, while lathering my face. Probably still wasn't enough. It sorta reminds me of Arko. Arko also lathers up quickly and easily, but then dries out quickly on the face. Lucky for me, I happen to have a new lather bowl on the way, and should arrive Monday. I gave up on Williams (I still have it, and might punish myself again sometime), but I'll get Tabac down. There's gotta be a reason so many people love it.

    A scale? Yep...you're officially a dork! :scared003:

Let's face it - we're all dorks here! No offense fellas! We talk about shaving. 90% of the population would certainly call us dorks. The only conversations I've heard regarding shaving have revolved around the high price of cart refills. But, hey! We're FUN dorks! :D

If you take me literally, we're gonna have a lotta fun this month.

Excuse me. I must go and put my highly valued factory-sealed Weber in the lockbox. :happy102:

    Decadent December!!!

    December 2

    Razor - 1946-'47 Gillette Aristocrat
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Pre-Shave - Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
    Soap - Stirling Barbershop
    Brush - 30 DC LE
    Post - Alum

After a surprisingly busy day at work today I was ready to chill a bit and enjoy a decadent shave. Clearly the Aristocrat is the razor to continue with for now along with the Voskhod blade. But I wanted to rotate to a different soap and brush. Stirling Barbershop. That's the ticket. Stirling always provides an uber-slick and cushy lather for me no matter what the scent and Barbershop is a favorite. Whip that lather into shape with the 30DC brush from @jtspartan and you have another decadent day.

The pre-shave soap really adds a bit of chill to the shave. Not a lot but just that quick hit. And when you lather over the top of it you end up with an even slicker lather. Two passes and touch up and I'm again looking at the baby, or very nearly so if I want to get terribly picky. My goal for all of my shaves this month (unless I go off the rails at some point) is to finish at near-BBS or better. So far I'm two for two.

Loved the shave and I can still detect the Barbershop scent. A very nice way to end the day!

I am modern straight razor guy, but that is one cool looking razor.:signs021:

How do you like the Variant?

I bought a tub when I was in NY and it worked great. Bought two more when I returned home and since them I struggle with all of them, I agree I could use them with a DE or SE but not a straight.

    Sunday decadent shave:

The decadence started with the HOT lather, used my tea kettle, scuttle, BK8 and QCS. The vampire blade must have been sleeping, it did not draw any blood. Finished up with some decadent leather, Knize Ten.
