Thanks, guys, for the kind words.

Andrew, the Astra SP was really smooth today on the sixth shave. I'll go for one more shave and then move on tomorrow. I have really been focused on skin stretching, riding the cap, and taking my time the past few weeks. I'm beginning to think the blade edge lasts longer, i.e. the blade edge takes less abuse, when technique is solid and consistent. Have you experienced anything like this?

    Decadent December continued

Decadence does not have to come with a big price tag: Arko, Whipped Dog silver tip, Mr. Blass and Hart Steel. Hart Steel is reasonable for a modern production razor, plus I bought it used. The scales are not refined and look a little rough but it adds to character of this big brute of blade. It does take a wonderful edge and is the type of heavy razor I enjoy shaving with.

    Irritation A+ Closeness A Smoothness A+ Sharpness A

    Razor: Hart Steel 7/8
    Stop: Dry Gulch black latigo
    Brush: Whipped Dog silver tip
    Pre: Nivea
    Soap: Arko
AS: Speick AS, Edwin Jagger ASB
    Scent: Bill Blass Mr. Blass

Clint, that's a decadent setup if I ever saw one! The colors in your photo are great, and I can almost feel the texture.

Great set up today, Jim. I bet your buddies at the gym were impressed with the Diplomat. I can't wait to try my Jeeves of Hudson Street soap tomorrow!

I used to wear the Adidas everyday until I acquired (aka began hoarding) additional scents. ;)

Jason, that's a sharp looking brush handle! I'm not familiar with Monobilt razors. How do they differ from a Gillette DE?

Bruce, nice set up and photo! Congrats on the new lather bowl. It's a looker. I love Tabac also. I have a Tabac shave stick that makes a great addition to my travel kit.

I think Andrew @Linuxguile could probably explain it better than I as he’s had more experience with MonoBilts, but here’s my 2 cents:
The TTO mechanism is way different. There is a hinge that is on the ‘end’ of the top cap and baseplate. Turning the bottom of the handle releases the other end of the ‘hinge’ and allows you to access the blade. The blade holder puts very little flex onto the blade. As a result of those 2 things, the top of the razor is quite large. It isn’t clunky, though. It is also quite heavy, which works with this razor. The comb is thick and more prominent than say an old type. More like a NEW LC, but not as long.
The shave itself is loud, and in my opinion, fairly aggressive. It is a stubble assassin. Hope that helps.

Andrew, your Schick FSM Prototype Injector is quite unique. How did you find it?

As for the baby, sometimes he's just hard to catch.
