Great photo Perry. Enjoy your day off. What weather we get will likely hit this afternoon if at all. It is snowing but just hovering above freezing so it is all likely much to do about nothing here.

The roads are inconsistent here. Some are getting snow covered and slick and others are totally fine. I'm just staying in and avoiding it all!

Day 7 wth the Cooper, 1st day with a Polsilver. Ist use of the Key Lime, the generous Christmas gift from Adam @Drygulch. I just happened to have an empty Prohibition Style tub lying around.
I’ve used one Jeeves soap before, Apothecary (Spearmint and Eucalyptus), and found it to be a fantastic top tier lather with a barely detectable scent. The Key lime whipped up the same fantastic Jeeves lather, this time with a nice scent.
3 smooth, slick passes later and I am in the baby range. Finished with the Florida Water, as it seemed to me that it would be a good match. An hour later, I think I was right.
    Have a great day all!

I can't blame you. I came into the office and the traffic was very light. I will likely leave around lunch and just work remotely this afternoon. ;)

Happy Friday everyone!! The weekend is juuuust about here!

    Fat Boy Friday!
Todays’s shave was brought to me by the following:
    Razor: Gillette 195 (Fat Boy) - F1
    Brush: JR216
    Bowl: WCS
    Soap: 3P
    Blade: Astra S/P
    A/S: Clubman Classic Vanilla

I decided to use the Fat Boy today, which is one of my least used razors. No particular reason...I think it’s a fine razor, and I have no gripes with it. I just don’t ever seem to reach for it.

I was having the dreaded “which soap to use today?” syndrome. That is a thing, right? Then I remembered the 3P soap sample I had in the cabinet and figured I’d give it a whirl. For those who might not be familiar with 3P, it’s an Italian made croap, which is coconut based. It has a light almond scent. It’s often compared to Cella in scent and performance.

To me, Cella has WAY more scent, which I happen to love. Some don’t care for it. For those who don’t like the strong, sweet smell of Cella, 3P might be for you. Unless you don’t like almond scent at all...in that case you might wanna pick something else.

Being a croap, I might’ve added a touch too much water and/or didn’t use quite enough product. Nonetheless, what it lacked in volume, it made up for in slickness.

The shave itself was fairly uneventful...a few minuscule weepers on my neck that went away immediately with a cold water rinse. Three passes today, just because. A splash of Clubman Classic Vanilla, just because. Good to go!

Will 3P replace Cella for me? Nope. I enjoy the super sweet almond scent...almost to the point of wanting to taste it. I think performance-wise they go head-to-head, despite Cella being tallow and coconut based.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday and some great shaves!

Today was a special day in the den. My razor fairy brought me a brand new Blackland Blackbird in polished finish. In a word....Decadence²! I wanted this razor to fill a gap in my modern razors between the Timeless Bronze and the Timeless .95 OC. I don't have the Timeless .68 but I've read numerous reviews saying it was just slightly more aggressive than the Bronze....so I was worried with the .58 gap Blackbird may not be a whole lot different than the Bronze. I loaded the Blackbird with a fresh Feather, my go-to blade on milder razors.

I'd also read the Blackbird angle can be difficult to find. I found it to be quite intuitive. The first stroke was spot on. Found the angle and realized within about 5 in² of cheek, a Feather may be a little over zealous on my part. So I slowed down and p[aid great attention. There is no hunting for the blade with this razor. You can feel it immediately and you can hear the razor singing like a Katana. It is much more aggressive than my Bronze. I believe I made a great selection with the Blackbird and it will fill the gap in between the Timeless pieces. I am so stoked about this razor.

The JR 223 beat the Stirling Vanilla Sandalwood like it stole something. This weeks lather's have certainly been decadent. Another fantastic addition to the den that has no reason to fear hitting the secondary market. She's got a permanent home.

    Enjoy your day, men!

Great photo & filter effect! I considered the Atomic Age Bay Rum soap & AS, but that's as far as it went. Very pretty snowfall...and nice crib too!!

Thanks for the feedback, Clint! I’d consider trying a used core model for cheap, but I’m not sure I’m very excited about the whole blade monopoly thing. At that point I’d consider going back to a cart.
