    Thank you, Jim!
Thank you, Clint! I stole that idea from @Bama Samurai back during Route 66 month in January. I remember him saying he would pull out a tiny bit of soap and place in a bowl, dribble water on top, and then start loading with a dry synthetic. I had not used that technique probably since then and on a whim remembered and tried it this morning with great results.

Day 10 with the Cooper, first with a Sharp Star. Tried the Lavanille for a 2nd time this morning. Lather was ok, I usually do much better with B&M, so I’d call this operator error- a little too much water too soon. Still got a nicely scented batch to work with and had 3 decent passes with the Sharp Star. This blade feels different on the face to me than my three favourites- Astra, Nacet & Polsilver. Very much like a Voskhod. Still a very good blade, and I am smooth after 3 passes. Finished with the Bon Vivant again, it is DEcadent DEcember after all.
    Have a great day all!

This is only the second time I have had a reaction to a soap. In the past it was almond scented P.160

    Razor: L4 Gillette Tech
    Blade: German Wilkie (4)
    Brush: 30DC LE/Pure Badger
    Soap: Der Vergulde Hand
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Back again with the L4 Tech. This was the razor that came along with the Gem Junior from the other day. It's actually the reason I bought the bundle; I've been wanting a Tech of this era for a bit and those two together were less than most sellers want for just the Tech. (I swear that you can buy a pre-War Fat Handle for less than one of those Zamac Travel Techs.) I've had a Sterling Tech in the rotation for a while and was curious to try the version which inspired it.

Despite a little trouble with loading the soap, the Tech brought home the baby in fine style. A decadent result without a lot of decadent hardware.
