I went sans shave today. May skip tomorrow too...that was a whole lotta decadence crammed in a few short days! I came outta the gate with a little too much giddyup, I believe. My face needs a rest.

However, I did enjoy the gear photos today. More DEcadence fo sho!

I took a couple of days off from shaving and tried out a new bowl I found in a 2nd hand store last week. I'm not sure what it was meant for, but it's ribbed inside the bowl and nice looking. I whipped up a nice lather from the CO Bigelow cream with the RazoRock brush and proceeded to shave. I missed out on Menthol Monday so I made up for it today. The shave cream left me with a pleasant, cool feeling.
The Futur clone continues to deliver a comfortable shave, increasingly giving me audible feedback the higher I go up the scale. I won't say I found the baby this morning, but it was surely a close, memorable shave.
I also did a head shave, which I had not done for nearly 2 weeks. I was beginning to "feel" like a 60s hippie, although I was far from looking like one. I loaded up the Probak with a new Personna blue, and I'm glad I did since even the fresh blade struggled to cut through the forest growing on my scalp. It didn't pull, or tug nor was it uncomfortable. I just had a lot of growth, which is why I went with the open comb razor. I had to do multiple passes to clean up, and I lost count after 2. I didn't use a lot of the Bigelow cream, but I can say it made a lot of lather for both a face and head shave for me.

Well, people say the big difference between commercial and artisan products is the range of scents the artisans offer -- and that's why. When you're making creams, soaps or splashes by the multiple thousands or even millions, you can't risk a product that might bother even a small percentage of the population -- so you avoid ALL possibly allergenic EOs, etc. Which makes your product safe for the widest possible range of people but also less "interesting".

First and foremost, great job again by your bride!
The bowl appears to be a suribachi bowl, which is used as part of a Japanese mortar & pestle. There are a number of guys here at TSD that use them.
Great photo and write up today, and congrats on another great shave!

I don't mind taking chances on scents and oils. The chance of discomfort is low in my estimation. I knew the Rose was questionable but for the price it was a no brainer, especially if it met typical Stirling performance. I like the smell of Rose, just not sure I wanted to smell like one for several hours.

All is not lost tho, @mrchick will be the next guinea pig. haha.

I will say there seems to be a big difference in the way Stirling handled your burning sensation with their Rose scent versus the way Soapy Bathman handled my burning face issue with their Italian Almond aftershave balm: when I emailed to ask what the problem might be because the other balms I bought from them didn't burn, they said it must be a reaction to the fragrance oil which was rare but possible and I should quit using it. Period. No offer of a refund or a credit towards a different bottle or even a slight discount on one...
