Thank you, Clint. I appreciate the Pro Tips, and I do hope your back will allow to ride more once it gets warmer.

Classic! You get two Scooby snacks for that one!
Maybe you can wear an ascot/scarf like Freddy as well...

I've just been so busy lately that I have not been able to ride. I actually like riding in the winter since the roads are less crowed and you can see through the curves better with no leaves on the trees.

This is a video of Wade following me for on a ride in the winter of 2014. We were between Dahlonega and Helen, GA

I like it. The boar gives it a bit more backbone than badger alone. As is said with all boars, once broken in, they're just as soft as a badger, just more backbone.

Thursday evening December 14 - repeat of yesterday's decadence mostly

    IMG_00000068.jpg

    Rockwell 6s on plate #3 / Topaz Platinum ( 2 )
Chinese hardwood brush with Maggards 24mm plissoft knot
Jeeves of Hudson Street Key Lime shave stick
    Alum and Florida Water

This was one of those days when everything just clicked. I rubbed my wet face hard with the shave stick, ending up with a dry face because the tallow soap sucked up all the moisture. I then face lathered with a damp synthetic brush, dripping a bit more water on it as needed. Today, thick creamy lather almost exploded on my face and the brush had enough in it for more than the three passes I did. It appears I find it easier to lather a shave stick with a synthetic brush rather than a badger.

I intended to do a light and quick two pass shave, but I did a full three passes because I was enjoying the lather so much.

As a number of people suggested, the Florida Water was a great match to the Key Lime to top off a wonderful shave.

I think I will repeat with the same equipment for the next few days. By the way, the Topaz Platinum blade in the photo is something of a personal milestone for me: it's the last blade in my 100-pack and represents the first full 100-pack of blades I have ever used up.

It’s coming up unavailable. I was ready to see sparks from dragging your boards going around curves.

I think I might have fixed it. No sparks flying. Too much salt and gravel on the road that weekend.

I believe @wchnu would call that a “chunky dunk”. If I may be so bold, two unicorns to you @PickledNorthern!
Speaking of which, I miss hearing from Fuzzy. Does anyone have a plan to coax him back? If it’s a cockamamie plan, I’m in!

Down the block from my home, someone set out a box of cloth by the curb. Assorted new pieces purchased for sewing projects, some cut up and hand stitched into squares to be assembled into a quilt. I picked out a dozen and have used them for backgrounds in recent SOTD shots. Passed the rest on to mom, who brought the larger of the pile to her church. Up-cycling for the win!

Very rare for me to take a photo during a shave. Lather shots don't happen for the same reason - get distracted taking the photos. Then editing, emailing from phone to laptop. Kind of messes up the cadence of a shave and lathers go flat if let set for too long.

Congrats on a splendid shave John! I’ve had a small run of great ones recently, and it’s a nice feeling, is it not?! Like you, when the lather is good, it’s tough to stop at two passes. What will your next 100 pack purchase be? More Topaz, or something else?

    Decadent December!!!

    December 14 - It's TOGGLE TIME!

    Razor - 1960 (F4) Gillette Toggle (8)
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
Soap - Route 66 Bourbon Jungle
    Brush - Stirling Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Almost to setting Me! We're on 8 tonight and I reminded myself the entire time to watch that pressure! No blood was my mantra going in. None. Nada. Zip. I chose the Route 66 Bourbon Jungle. I still have the remnants of a sample and I do like this scent. I was thinking the big Stirling brush might wipe it out tonight but there's still some left so I'll have another shave or two with it. Locked and loaded the Feather for its second run and away we go.

Very smooth shave and the R66 lather was super slick as always. Two passes, some touch up, the baby's put to bed and the alum is nearly quiet. Can't complain a bit about that. And.....my mantra worked. No blood. Anywhere. Nailed it. Have a great Friday!
