Well, I was kidding the first time too, and you bit. Might as well swing for the fences.

It's impossible to give more than you receive here. It's just the culture. My mailbox proved that again today. As for the meet up - kilts would be totally welcome around here. We used to have a Tartan festival every year in St. Charles until the city outpriced the space that was used. I've thought about proposing a meet up in STL since we sit in the middle of the country. It's still on my list of potential ideas.

That’s an amusing story. Here I thought you were just combining soaps for the sake of condensing the number of containers and to make it easier to use. At least you ended up with a final product that works well, and that you enjoy using.

So, the brick Cella and the stuff in a tub ARE different? I thought it was the same soap, just different sizes. Nonetheless, as much as I love Cella, I don’t see a kilo in my future. I thought about it....however that’s A LOT of one soap.

Love it when a plan comes together. Easy choice for lather, no fuss brush, don't count uses of the blade. I didn't even look to see what setting the razor was on. A cool water lather and three easy passes. No errors and a classic Pinaud finish.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

What? Does this mean @jtspartan is NOT going to make us each a shave cabinet??? But... but... I already moved some furniture to make room for it! That's just not fair!! :angry017:

We also have our semi-annual demonstration/riot season coming up just after the winter weather subsides here in the STL area too, so we don't want to risk any problems there. And shipping it during Cardinals season? Impossible. Baseball Heaven comes to a standstill for those months as we try to win our 12th World Series. (Suck on it Cubs - we still have waaaaaayyyy more than you do.) Then, of course, assuming that late October baseball run, the Blues start up and here comes the winter weather again. Hey, you know what? This is actually easier than the ransom note idea!

I'm trying to catch up and a day late but HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! You've been a fantastic member of this group, everyone seems to like you, and you made some really cool brushes. You pass all of the tests for a lifetime pass around here my friend.

That can be the kiss-of-death for that scent if the wife suggests you "send it back." What will Adam do? 1) Send it back. 2) Keep it and put it in the back of the rotation so it's used only once in a while. 3) Hide it, and only use it when the wife is away visiting relatives. 4) Use it everyday until she learns to love it.

I'd like to thank Adam @Drygulch again for the Jeeves Of Hudson Street Bay Rum soap. I've not found a bay rum soap I really liked - until now. Jeeves is great soap. My Secret Santa clued me in to it.

This bay rum smells exactly like a solid cologne a friend of mine used to make. I loved that stuff. His supplier switched to a new oil provider and he could no longer get the exact scent and I have certainly missed it. As soon as I opened this, I knew it was the same one. It's great stuff, and I'm hooked. I've used it three times in one week. I keep coming back to it.

I'll second the motion to remove the "Kilts optional" language from the event. I would go further and move that "Clothing optional" language be excluded in any event rule... in case it's held near a nude beach.

    Decadent December!!!

    December 15 - It's TOGGLE TIME!

    Razor - 1960 (F4) Gillette Toggle (ME)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
Soap - Oleo Soapworks El Caballero
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Post - Alum

Yes, boys and girls, we finally made it to 9 on the Toggle. It's setting ME and I'm ready for it. As a special treat I found a small brown box in my mailbox when I got home. Inside was a jar of El Caballero soap from Oleo Soapworks, compliments of one @Douglas Carey . I'm not at all familiar with this soap other than seeing it a few times on here so I was curious and broke it open to give it a try. It's made in Chicago so it's a closer to home soap like Jeeves. Thanks Insane Shaving Dude! In your honor I decided to do 10 pushups like a good Marine. I'll let you know when I recover enough from the first one to go on to the second.

I chose the Wolf for the brush to see how the new soap lathered. Synthetics really make it way too easy when figuring a soap out, so the badger got the call to make it a real test. Honestly, I thought the load was a bit light after working some water into it but, upon face lathering, I had plenty for both passes, touchups, and to pass around to the whole group. Impressive and very cushy and decadent lather and the scent, bay rum and gentleman's cologne, is subtle but very present. And pleasant.

Two passes and touchups with the Toggle wide open and the Feather aboard and.....the baby is in the house with a bit of alum burn and two small weepers on the right jawline. I was paying attention to the soap instead of the razor I think. Overall a really nice shave for a wide open and sharp combination! It's been fun going up the levels with this beauty.

I'm going to do some comparisons starting tomorrow between the Toggle and my Fatboy. Both were in production at the same time and the Fatboy beat out the Toggle in user preferences. Hence, the rarity of the Toggle. I'm going to back down to 6 for both and see how they each handle. Besides, I think @wristwatchb has a valid point about shipping it back too soon. Just far too dangerous for such a fine razor. Have a great weekend!

Yes, the Cella red tubs and the bricks ARE different -- a bit. I think they are the same ingredients but the brick has a little more water removed while processing. Maybe milled once or something. It's still a very soft soap but not totally squishy like the red tub stuff. How do I know? Well, during the Black Friday sales I noticed Fendrihan had the kilo bricks back in stock...

A brand new strop from @Drygulch was waiting for me when I got home last night. It is really a cool piece of work. I also got to break in a great new brush from @Jayaruh. A newly touched up edge on my razor, and the bar was set really high for the rest of the weekend.

Wonderful setup Doug. Love the brush. ;)

Great lineup and wonderful idea on the Frankenshop. Like Charlie I just scoop out the last remainder of a container and add it to the top of a newer soap. By the way, what do you think of the CH2 Synthetic?

Great looking Fat Boy. Looks minty.

Wonderful job describing the scent of the soap. It smells great but the scent is hard for me to describe.

    Beautiful razor Jared.
