I've had the pleasure of using another one of my surprise Christmas presents from my friend Adam @Drygulch! He sent me a container of Jeeves of Hudson Street Private Study shave soap earlier this month, and it is one of the newest decadent additions to my Shave Den. From the website: "Our Private Study Tallow Soap will make you feel like you are sailing on the seven sea's. A classic bay rum scent made with West Indie bay, sweet orange, rum, spices and just a touch of patchouli and vanilla."

I didn't have any bay rum soaps, so this filled a void in my rotation. It pairs nicely with my Captain's Choice Bay Rum aftershave. The scent is great, and the performance is top notch. It produces a very slick and luxurious lather.

Adam, a big shout out and thanks to you, my friend.

That is a very nicely laid out photo. You have been doing a great job of coordinating colors.

    Pre-shave: shower
    Brush: Omega Hi-Brush Synthetic
Soap: RazoRock Essential Oil of Lavender Shaving Cream Soap
Razor: Ming Shi, at maximum setting #6
    Blade: Wilkinson-Sword (6)
Post-shave: Thayer's WH Lavender, Nautica Blue AS Balm, Nautica Blue Cologne spray

Wow! This thread continues to explode! I'm afraid to go and do anything or I'll miss out. :lam:

Inspired by Charlie @wristwatchb, who used a lavender shave cream this morning, I pulled out the RazoRock Essential Oil of Lavender Shaving Cream Soap. Since I was using a synthetic brush I didn't wet it while I took a shower. In fact, I remembered someone on this thread or another thread (I'm sorry I don't recall who it was so I can give them credit for it) said they sometimes just add a little water to the shave cream or soap and start whipping with a dry synthetic brush. Whether or not I got this technique right or wrong... I decided to try it. I put just a little bit of water in the tub of the shaving cream soap and I left the brush completely dry. I thought I maybe had too much water in the soap so I poured some out leaving only a little bit. I then started to whip that dry brush in the tub of shaving cream soap and I was amazed how quickly it lathered and how much it lathered. I didn't use much water. I figured I would have to keep adding water but I didn't. I had a bowl ready nearby because I usually bowl lather after I load the brush. I changed tactics for a 2nd time and just wet my face and did a face lather. It was very nice! For my second pass I ran the tips of the brush briefly under the faucet and loaded up more cream-soap, and faced lathered again. Two primary passes was enough, and I had enough lather to apply by hand to do some clean-up passes on my neck. I brought the baby home with this Ming Shi dialed in at #6!

It's time to put the Ming Shi Futur Clone aside for the time-being and for my next shave either on Monday or Tuesday I'll choose one of the Gillette adjustables. The Ming Shi performed extremely well. Surprisingly, it didn't draw any blood during these two weeks of use. It bit me a couple of times, because I pressed just a little too hard, but there was never any blood... no nicks... weepers or other injuries. It's been very forgiving. I'm happy I acquired it.

I just everyone has had a great weekend so far and may you all continue to do so! Now it's time for me to catch up on what's been going on.

Mmm...mmm....lavender! Congrats on a great shave, Dan. Informative write up, and your Bride did a fantastic job setting up your SOTD photo! :happy096:

Day 2 with the Aristocrat Jr, both with the Nacet. I have had two very smooth shaves with this razor and blade combo. It is not the stubble assassin that the MonoBilt was for the first half of the month, but it is a nice, reliable shaver that is a pleasure to use. I used the Cheshire sample today for the first time. I find it a very pleasant scent and I think this is the first time I’ve used a B&M White label base. I found it quite similar to the Glissant base, to be honest. Did 3 effortless passes and didn’t really do any touchup as I’m not going anywhere. I’d call it a DFS.
    Have a great weekend all!

Thanks, Jim! But I see yours is equally calendar worthy! Nicely done. Has your wife learned you've drafted her Nutcrackers into service?
