    Hi. Welcome to the show!

You will have to ask an expert about that. I just call it a La Gloria Cubano Serie R Estelle.
Howdy. Watch out for that Fuzzy feller. He is about half a bubble off.

Don’t forget that your fake Russians bake fake cookies too. Not very intimidating when you think about it. It’s disappointing, but not nearly as disappointing as if they drank fake vodka.

Clearly you need at least one more session in "new thinking". Those cookies are real. Every single imaginary cookie you've been offered tasted wonderful, was delightfully moist and just full of chocolate chips. :ahem:

    Pre-shave: Hot Shower
    Brush: Cremo Horsehair by Vie-Long
    Cream: CO Bigelow Shave Cream
Razor: Gillette adjustable Fatboy E-4 (dialed in at #5)
    Blade: Wilkinson-Sword (1)
Post-shave: TN Dickinson WH, Nivea Sensitive Skin Cooling PS Balm, Skin Bracer

Oh... oh... I've fallen behind on this thread. Again. I was busy watching football yesterday PLUS our boys came home from their college's winter break. Today I took my mom out to finish up some Christmas shopping. This is a busy time of year for us all.

Well, I'm going to focus on getting this post out, then I'll focus on catching up. As you may recall I spent the first half of the month using the Ming Shi Futur Clone. Today I switched to my Gillette Fatboy made in 1959. I acquired this razor a couple of months ago and this was actually the first time I've used it. Not being well-versed in adjustables, and also being impatient I decided to set it at #5. I had two days worth of stubble and I figured starting out at #1 would be too mild for me, and #9 was probably not necessary. So what happened is.... I had plenty of audible feedback as I shaved and it was delightfully comfortable. After two passes my face felt smooth and refreshed! I did a little clean up on my neck... I won't say I had BBS this time (my trouble spot is the neck) because of some stubborn whisker growth on the neck but it was a CFS overall. If I shave tomorrow with just 24 hours growth I'll probably dial it down to #1.

God bless you all, and enjoy the week!

    Decadent December!!!

    December 18 - It's TOGGLE TIME!

    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (6)
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Stirling Ozark Mountain
    Brush - Jayaruh #46
    Post - Alum

Back to the Fatboy tonight as I continue to try and sniff out differences between the razors. Stirling Ozark Mountain and the JR46 for lather to die for, as decadence is still a requirement this month, and a three pass shave with just a slight bit of j-hooking to finish the lower neck, and the baby is in the house, put to bed, and happy as can be. My wife loves the scent of the Ozark Mountain, as do I, so a great shave whether I learn anything or not.

I did notice, however, a balance difference, or at least it seemed like I noticed it. The Toggle is a bit heavier than the Fatboy and, while longer, has the same length handle without the toggle lever (or nearly the same). I made a mental note last night to ease up on the pressure again as the head of the Toggle seems on the heavy side. Tonight with the Fatboy I felt like the razor was better balanced between head and handle. I wasn't worrying about pressure. So, tomorrow night I'm going to pay close attention to that on the Toggle when I return to it. I've read comments by some reviewers that the Toggle is a bit more aggressive than the Fatboy. The gaps are the same, though, and the head geometry is essentially equal on these two. What would cause that extra aggressive feeling? Pressure. And if the balance on the Toggle leans to the head - well there you go. More to come.

Hi Brian.... I know this is already old news but I didn't have a chance to say anything last night. You have lovely ladies in your family and bidding farewell to a house where you raised children is always difficult. But the "home" stays with you always. Moving is a big pain, but you have new adventures to look forward to.

Finally, I love the hoodie you're wearing! I wore one of my like-minded T-shirts for the game yesterday! I trust you're a fan as well, or did you lose a bet? :susel:

Nice shave! Dialing down to 1 is going to be a world of difference from where you started. That is MILD. It's worth doing to see how well it works, but I have found that the Gillette Adjustables tend to start getting into the sweet spot beginning at 3. Maybe 2 for some. Once you get this razor figured out, though, you'll love it!

    Route 66 Barbershop Hop
    B-400 brush w/ Omega 98 knot
    Suribachi bowl, cool water
Stahly top end / Gillette bar handle
    Feather blade on shave #?

I soused the soap puck, set the still fresh but about broken in boar to soaking in cool tap water. Inspired by Adam's @Drygulch use of his Stahly I dusted mine off & tried to wind it up but it seemed stuck. Not a problem as the cap has good old fashioned American threads. Bar handle from the New OC fits it like it was made for it. Checked the blade - Hi Stainless of who knows how many shaves. Using a lighter than OEM handle with the Stahly head might up the aggression. I've enjoyed the 3000 VPM jumbo counter weight that changes the balance and considered it a mild to medium razor. Quick loading with the still stiff bristle. Easy lather building in the textured ceramic bowl. Took my three passes, enough lather for the usual extra neck clean up & chin details. Since I was 12 hours past my usual 48 hour shave timer reset I expected to feel good and wasn't disappointed. Now half a day after the shave and I know it wasn't a Fat Boy on 9 reduction, but the Stahly does give an overall good performance. As I was cleaning up my gear to take a photo I tried the Live Action handle again. This time it resisted, but wound up. I set it in the display case and it was still buzzing.
    Good Shaves Y'all!
