No joke it's active here! Took me an hour and 20 minutes just to get this post... and I'm not finished yet! :lam:

...and that's why I'm happy with my E-4 #195. If a Toggle originally cost 5+ times as much, but shaves the same I'm only missing out on the novelty of a rare production unit. I'm already getting the same great shave. That's also why I keep my peepers (winker?) open for any Gillette Adjustable. I didn't much like a Slim so I traded it off. All the other Fat Boys I've found are now in the den's of deserving individuals. Might do a Focus with the recently acquired Black Beauty to see if it's a keeper.

Welcome @Marine68! I don't think you've shared a name with The 30 DC. What can we call you? BTW I smoke a pipe, enjoy bourbon and am quite entertained by shenanigans, too!

I bought a waterbed in 1979. It was the Starter Model; four 2X10's cut and drilled to fit the King Size Full Motion mattress, a heater, and satin sheets. Still have the original frame, added a pedestal & headboard, and have replaced the mattress a couple times. Gave up on heaters after the second or fourth quit working. During warm weather I reduce the number of quilts and sleep cool on the ambient temp water. It's nearly Winter now so I've upped the pile of quilts for insulation giving me a pillow top, warm, like no other great nights sleep.
Neal @NCoxSTL - do you have a supplier for replacement mattresses? If / when I need a new one I'd shop the internet because the only shop in my little Mayberry town closed years ago.

Thanks, Neal. Sometimes I wish the facial hair would grow more quickly so I'd have to shave more often! :shaver

Same here, been a fan since I was about 7 or 8.... Bud Grant was head coach, Joe Kapp was Quarterback, and the Purple People Eaters were the defensive line. I'm glad they're having a great year this season.

Thank you, kind sir. But I'll let you in on a little secret. A legal pad, a pen, and a list helps to keep me organized. Otherwise, I'd be lost!

If you liked 5, I don't know that I would bother with 1. According to Gillette's original materials, 4 to 6 was expected to be the average area where most shavers would use the adjustables, 7 to 9 was for those who liked aggressive razors, and 1 to 3 was for those with sensitive skin who wanted something mild. Setting 1 is so mild it practically doesn't cut at all.

Tuesday morning December 19 - TSD DECadence

    IMG_00000076.jpg

Delta Echo refurbished Ink Gillette Slim on 4 / Voskhod (1)
Jason's non-30DC Cypress Badger brush (knot is a 24mm 2-band badger from Maggards)
    Oleo Soapworks El Caballero
    Alum and Florida Water
lather bowl - Scottish/Renaissance Faire type horn quaich

When I collected my mail on Monday, I found a surprise package -- a tub of Oleo Soapworks El Caballero shaving soap from @Douglas Carey. Totally unexpected and absolutely delightful! Thanks, Doug!

Inspired by the soap, I decided to do a shave tonight with items connected to the 30DC. From the top:

    1. The Gillette Slim I obtained in a trade with Chris @SharptoothC after a discussion on this thread. I had it cerakoted by Delta Echo -- a company and a coating option I learned about here.

    2. The blade is a Voskhod -- a brand I learned about on the 30DC. It was part of a 100-pack I won in a TSD raffle after Neal @NCoxSTL donated them.

    3. The brush was a trade/gift from Jason @jtspartan. I learned about Maggards and about reknotting brushes here.

    4. The soap was a gift from @Douglas Carey. El Caballero is a mix of bay rum and a gentleman's cologne in scent.

    5. I learned about using Alum as a rub here from Chris @Bama Samurai. I think he may be the one who also taught me the trick of using a rubber band around the alum block to provide a secure grip against accidentally dropping and breaking it. This is my second alum block; I dropped and broke the first after reducing it to a sliver too thin for the rubber band to go around any more.

    6. Florida Water is an aftershave I learned about here. For that matter, all the splashes and balms I use, including Thayers Witch Hazel, I learned about here. (The sole exception to that is Nivea Sensitive Balm.) Thanks to the 30DC, I now have about 25 splashes and balms to choose from.

    7. The lather bowl is a repurposed horn drinking quaich. I learned about using larger lather bowls instead of a mug to help whip the lather here. For that matter, I learned about making proper lather here...

So there you go: a complete TSD shave. Thanks, everyone! I've learned a lot here and it's been a great deal of fun.

BTW, the shave was a good one. I made a "super goop" lather in the soap tub before transferring my brush to the lather bowl to finish (also a technique I learned here). The El Caballero not only smells great, it whips up a wonderful slick lather. Three passes later (riding the cap, skin stretching and using light pressure as per the 30DC mantra) and I am BBS.

Hope everyone is on track to have a great week leading into a wonderful and safe holiday season!

Good morning everyone!! So for the shave this morning I changed it up thanks to @Jorvaljr I tried out a feather blade. That made the world of difference I had no nicks or cuts had much less tugging at the hair feeling lol. Great shave

Props once again to your bride! Great photo! Excellent setup as well! Your Fat Boy appears to be in fantastic condition.

    Excellent holiday themed photo Neal!

Very nice sir!! Have you ever been able to use the Stahly in the "normal" mode (with the handle operating)? Just wondered if it is truly beneficial, or if it's more of a gimmick? I have heard that they are great shavers, even without the handle working...and, they're cool looking!

Great photo and writeup! Congrats on the "All TSD 30DC" shave! I know I've mentioned it before, but Delta Echo did an incredible job on your trio! :)
