Thank you, Clint. I had no immediate ideas about getting any, I was just curious.

 

Oh I know. It is always nice to get different opinions. I know someone in the 30DC ordered some recently but I don't recall who at the moment.

 

My wife just texted me this pic with “SOTD”. I like the fact that she is enjoying her gear and decided to take a pic like she sees me doing. I love this woman

 

She has good taste in gear too!

I think I am similar, Bruce. I love the smell of coffee, and like that smell in different things, but I'm not sure shaving soap is where I'd like to see it.

My two favorite MDC scents are Vetyver and Agrumes.

 

Snap. You are going to make me buy the Agrumes. How would you describe the scent?

My gosh! I left my phone at work last night and just checked the thread. Pretty sure I'm gonna need to find a new job or retire in order to keep up with this thread. A few responses, though:

MdC actually has 3 LE scents - Rose as well as Vetyver and Citrus (Agrumes). I have only sniffed the soaps in the tubs so far and not smelled them lathered up (except for Original, which smells much the same both ways). Based on how Original is when lathered, I expect the others will smell quite similar in the lather as in the tub.

Btw, Original is described by MdC as a mixture of lavender, rosemary and wild mint. The medicinal smell you notice under the lavender is probably the combination of rosemary and botanical wild mint.

As far as I can tell, Agrumes is a fairly intense mixture of lemon and orange. If you like the smell of Lucky Tiger, I expect you would like Agrumes.

Vetyver smells very much like pure vetiver -- i.e. new mown spicy grass.

Fougere is an earthy fern scent.

Rose is a basic rose scent but quite strong, not light and airy. More living flowers than potpourri petals, if you know what I mean. It reminds me of the TOBS Rose cream, which is similarly robust.

As far as I can tell, MdC doesn't do light floral scents; they are all more robust and botanical. The clearance bathsoap I bought, for example, is marked as lavender, fougere, vetyver and thyme and can best be described as penetratingly herbal.

 

Thank you John. I had completely forgotten about the Rose LE scent. Your description of the Original was much better than my poor attempt while capturing my thoughts perfectly. On the Vetyver I don't get new mown grass. I get a deep dark earthy scent like the forest floor. Just goes to show how we each perceive scents differently. Would you agree that the Fougere is the most approachable of the scents? or the least intense?

Off work tonight so up a little early today. This is Wednesday so will be WILLIAMS WEDNESDAY here in the hutch before church tonight. To make it a more high class shave I will use a very nice 1910 Gem Jr Bar with a handle by @Jayaruh.

 

Yes, I think you're right about the Fougere. It smells like the kind of scent that won't really clash too badly with anything else.
