    Thanks.
I think she is using @douglas Cary for inspiration. I haven’t been using blue. She does have a nice rig. I bought her the pieces after she tried some of mine and liked wet shaving.

Well, since I mentioned my friend earlier, I just thought I would let everyone know: my friend's family came to terms with his situation today and had him removed from life support this morning. He died peacefully about half an hour ago. I'm glad they didn't prolong it for him and for themselves for days as they might have.

My father died almost 4 years ago, probably of a stroke. I found him dead in his bed in the morning. While it was a real shock finding him that way, I have always been glad that his passing was so swift, both for his sake and for ours -- as his surviving family, we had no hard decisions to make...

Aww snap! I stand corrected! That’s right, it was Doug doing the blue theme (and quite well, I might add!). She did an awesome job with that SOTD photo. You gotta be proud!

Very cool. I found that getting her started with a nice slick soap and brush helped a lot. I had her try injectors and DE and she really liked the shave she got with the DE. I believe she is using Astra SP blades.
    Have fun!

I’m sorry for your loss but given the situation it worked out about as well as can be expected. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your friend’s family.

Sorry for your loss (and his family’s loss). The family did the right thing, but it’s still not easy.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, gentlemen. They are much appreciated.

As you say, Bruce @FaceScraper, I am convinced his family made the right decision but it was not an easy one for them to take.

    Decadent December!!!

    December 20 - 3rd Anniversary TSD Shave

Razor - Van Der Hagen TTO (Weishi)
    Blade - astra-superior-platinum.jpg (1)
    Soap - Proraso Green
    Brush - Tweezerman Badger
    Post - Alum

Three years ago today, a relative newcomer to the wonderful world of traditional shaving got bored waiting for people to respond on a couple of forums he had discovered in the month he had been trying to use this old style, yet new to him, equipment. He wandered into a place called The Shave Den. What the heck. He signed up, introduced himself, and a short time later had a number of welcomes including a PM from one @Bama Samurai , some clearly semi-demented guy out in Colorado who was asking lots of good questions and offering some free blades. This same semi-demented guy would soon decide to try and start a group for people to learn their gear using something called a "Rule", and the newcomer decided...once again........what the heck. Might as well give it a shot. Three years later he's still here, still playing with gear, still fascinated with blades and their subtle differences, only now he thinks he's smart enough to talk about high end adjustable razors and other stuff that was so far over his head back in 2014 that he didn't even know they existed. Boy, the joke's on him.

In honor of my first day on the board those three years ago I'm going retro to the first razor I bought. My VDH TTO. Also the first brush, which is the Tweezerman, sometimes called "super shedder". For the soap? It was Proraso Green back then, and nothing else. The blade? Well, to be honest, my first blade was the VDH blades that came with the razor. I quickly learned, though, that there were better options and by the time I arrived was using Astra SP's as my everyday blade. In fact, my first 100 pack purchase was Astra SP. Yes, boys and girls, three years ago when I first appeared in these hallowed halls, I had never even touched a Voskhod. Dark days were those.

Let me say what a pleasure and honor it's been to be a part of The Shave Den as a whole, and the 30DC in particular over the past three years. This place has restored my faith in humanity many times, and I point to it often when faced with cynicism and all of the drama out on the web in general. To all of you who have participated, who have joked with me, born the brunt of my jokes with grace and simply been there to listen and to share your own lives, THANK YOU! Yes, this is a shaving forum, but it's much more than that. It's a great gathering of some of the finest people I've ever had the pleasure to know, even if it's in cyber space.

Oh, and the shave tonight? Well let's just say I remember why I bought the Omega Pro 48 - that Tweezerman has the backbone of a slug. And the lather with that thing? Hey, it worked and I ended up with a decent DFS. It did take me back, though, and man am I glad I finally learned to shave!

Neal, great shave in the sense of taking us back on memory lane. I’m still a rookie at TSD so I’m still learning about it. Thank you for your story. I learned something about the 30 DC I didn’t know. It’s fun to read. I started much the same as you. Thank you for all of your contributions! Kudos, my friend. :happy096:

Bama Samurai is on a break from shaving today.

Chris is gonna write a few thoughts instead.

A post by @NCoxSTL (Neal) tonight caught my eye. If you read the intro each month, maybe you've got an idea of how we got started three years ago. I was tired of buying gear, and yet getting the same mediocre results. Plug @GDCarrington into search here. The 30 Day Rule is his work. I adapted a little, some people joined in, and we learned how to really do it. @NCoxSTL has been here from the very beginning and has actually posted and facilitated the thread far longer than my initial opening run. The thriving and vibrant pages we have here today are really an example of what an internet community "can" be like. I appreciate Neal and the guys for being a part of this thread. It's probably the best single spot on a shaving forum for a newbie to learn fast. There aren't many other forums or threads that are really like this...it's pretty cool.

So for everything Neal has ever written about me, there's only one thing he's ever written that's not true. I am, in fact, fully demented, though not so demented as Neal....just saying. Neal, thanks for all you wrote. And guys, thanks! I hope we can keep churning out technique masters and teachers if shaving joy for a long time to come.

    RyX DoH!

Great posts Neal and Chris. I'm still not able to work up the stick-to-it-ness to pull off a Rule, but Focus is becoming easier. There's an Entrance sign outside The 30 Day thread. I haven't considered looking for an exit.

I don't know if it helps, but I've told more than one Lady, "I'm comfortable with your animal nature". Sometimes people forget we are.

    Umm, yup!

I had to Google her. Healthy Lady! :happy088:
