Speaking of great shaves. I have not used my Parker in several months. It did a great 2 pass shave. DFS+ type shave!!

 

That was a great report on a fascinating comparison shave. I have always wondered what the story was behind the Toggle and its brief flit across the stage. I guess now we know. And also have a fairly good answer to the question of which is better, the Toggle or the Fatboy. It looks like the right one won out back in the day.

Proraso White soap
B-400 Tuxedo brush
Suribachi bowl & cool water
'55 Red Tip & Rapira blade
Alum, Proraso Blu lotion


If I remember, I'll pick up some Post-It Notes to remind me of Fat Boy Friday. It's my Standard Shave by which all others are judged. Today I cleaned out my rack of razors I keep out to use. The Red Tip caught my eye so it got a turn at being decadent. It does give a #195- like result. While shuffling other gear I spotted the stack of Proraso tubs and Sensitive got it's chance to remind me why I keep it. Nice scent and the lather is never a disappointment. With a well shook out synth brush I loaded heavily. A little extra trickle of cool tap water balanced the mix on my first attempt. Three easy passes, all kinds of slides, chin buffing. Check the lather... more soap means more shaving! Might have ended up with a five pass all totaled. Rinsed and swiped alum for a little heat on my chin line right side. Being left handed it happens when I switch hands. Rinsed the alum off and the lotion soothed everything. A high DFS and I'm happy.

If Christmas had a scent, this is probably it. Thanks Douglas! My first shave in a few days....two for the win. Lather was good, and since Mr. Carey sent me some nice soap, I decided to break out the LaCoste. Bama Samurai and French Cologne? Yep, jet set redneck. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

I just have to pick up a Parker SRX....mighty tempting.

 

Classy and classic. Almost as good as Vitameatavegamin.

 

I made a video with it. Very nice razor. I prefer it over my Dovo.

 

Rick, it would be a hard choice to pick between a FB and a Red Tip. I like them both...but I think I prefer the Red Tip. Yours is a beauty!

Of the Shavettes I've tried, it's the "most similar" to an SR in terms of handling and mass. Great value.
