Thanks. I purchased one earlier this year, but I passed it on to someone before I could use it. I haven't used a shavette in awhile. I may grab another Parker in 2018 and jump into a focus with it.

I appreciate your ability to find humorous graphics. Keep 'em coming!
You did slip that one in before I posted my assumption of your posting the picture in response to the conversation. Did I spend too much time typing?

No worries Dan. I started a text file to help me remember TSD members names. Not everyone can be John! The rest of us are Chris, or Jim...

I watched waaaay too much TV as a kid. Anytime I post a video, it's something old. I watch very little TV now, but I still love the old shows and story lines, especially the sitcoms and the westerns. I'm still a sucker for reruns of shows like Carol Burnett, The Honeymooners, The Rifleman, All in the Family, M*A*S*H, Bonanza, and Andy Griffith, and I love cruising around YouTube for the "best of" clips. And now you guys all have to endure my encyclopedic knowledge and recall of all this useless stuff.

    Merry Christmas, Rick. :santa

There does seem to be a higher concentration of Chris's here at the Den compared to the general population.

Thank you for well wishes. I am n0t 100% recovered yet but getting better.

    Saturday shave:

Finally felt enough energy for a four pass shave. The R66 was wet a slick like always, the blade was smooth and sharp and I had a very nice shave.

Friday night December 22 just before midnight - sample fun.

Delta Echo Ink black Gillette Slim on 4 / Voskhod (2)
Muhle small black fibre synthetic brush
    @Vlasta sample K - Wilkinson Sword (white)
Alum and Soapy Bathman Cup of Joe menthol balm

I have decided to spend some time playing with my box of samples. I have about 20 built up, so this should keep me going into the new year.

I started tonight by revisiting one of the samples that @Vlasta had us blind test -- Wilkinson Sword. As you can see from the photo, the chunk of it I have is white, not blue, so I assume it's from a bowl rather than the shave sticks. When I used it in the test, I had some problems getting it to lather - probably partly just trouble getting a small amount squashed in a lather bowl to brush load properly. So I decided to try it again tonight, using the small amount I had left as a shave stick. I wetted my face and rubbed the soap on heavily.

It made quite a difference. I got good lather and better slickness than during the test. Although I am still not wildly fond of the scent. In retrospect, I should have done a shave stick shave with it while testing and may have judged it a shade higher if I had. (Although I still have no intention of ever buying it...)

I haven't used this little Muhle synthetic brush for several months. And to be honest, after tonight, I haven't much missed it. It lathered up the soap okay once I got it working, but I find the combination of the small handle, small diameter knot (about 19 or 20mm I think) and high loft just makes it feel awkward. It's a nearly new brush, high quality, and they are fairly expensive, but I just can't see myself grabbing this one off the rack all that often. Hmmm ... maybe a good PIF for the TSD Raffle or the Newbie Raffle in the new year...

Overall, a good shave. I did two passes and the Slim loaded with the Voskhod was smooth and sharp. I am high DFS with no irritation. The mentholated balm provided a nice refreshing chill afterwards.

And a Happy New Year to you & yours, Charlie!
Many evenings I visit with my parents who live about 10 miles away. Mom's cooking; Mmmm! We set up TV trays in the living room and enjoy many of those shows. If none of them are on, it's N.C.I.S. or a documentary. While raising my children we developed a secret language of obscure TV quotes that allowed us to make snarky comments about the Human Condition in front of unknowing Normals.
    MST3K? Great stuff.

So the last time I tried this razor, I really wasn’t happy with the edge. To top it up, I gave it 20-30 laps on the black Arkansas, and that was all it needed. Very nearly an epic shave. Great start to a long weekend.

It seems like there's a number of these day/gear combos running around. I know I've heard about Fatboy Friday, Williams Wednesday, and Tech Tuesday. IIRC, over on another forum, I've seen Blue (Tip) Monday and Single-Edge Sunday. Anybody recall any others?

Agreed. I think we may be low on Bobs and Steves, however.
