To extend the life of the blade, what I do is after two or three shaves, I flip it (open the razor and turn the blade upside down), so that it attacks the beard at the opposite angle. Maybe it's my imagination but I feel some improvement.

    Has anyone tried this?

I do. I also hand strop.
Does it make a difference? No idea. But I figure can't hurt, might help.
Besides, it's my shave. I'll enjoy it my way. :)

At about a dime a blade why bother?

I tried it and I could swear the blade lasted longer as well.

    Well said. Concerning hand stropping.......

I still don't understand this but, to each their own. You can say it never happened to me, but this, IMHO, is an extremely dangerous one strike ball game. At the price of blades and the quality of today's blades, why take the chance?

I've been hand stropping DE and SE bades darn near everyday for the past 7-8 years. I have NEVER cut myself. Not even a nick.

Now watch, tomorrow I'll cut myself. :signs131:

First, never say never. And, it is still a one strike ball game.:duel:

Extremely dangerous? One strike? How do you put the blade in your razor?

I do not wipe it back and forth on my hand or any other body part. I believe the odds of cutting yourself are lower when putting a blade in the razor than intentionally wiping it back and forth on your body. As I said, to each his own.

    It's your imagination.

But, if you like the results.... By all means.

I don't palm strop now, although I did for a couple of years. I never cut myself, not even one time. I do, however, occasionally nick a finger as I try to pry the glued down paper off the blade. I believe the actual data of cutting my hand or fingers was much higher for putting in a blade than for palm stropping. YMMV:eatdrink047:

Any scientific proof it doesn't work? ;)

I've flipped the blade from the first time, 4 sides for 4 weeks each.
