Little known fact - The scent of Tabac was made to emulate the bottom of a chunky, red headed, German graddmother’s purse.

    Nice brush Jared!

Thanks, Clint. I have been really happy with Delta Echo's work on my Gillettes. I originally went with the gun coating because the Black Beauty's handle is either painted or enamelled aluminum and therefore cannot receive a more traditional plating. I was going to get the Fatboy and Slim nickel or rhodium plated originally, but had a whim to match all three razors. Which meant a gun coating by either Delta Echo or North Shore Razors.

All three razors look better, function more smoothly, are protected against any further corrosion, and will probably still be shaving well long after I am ashes on the wind. Can't get much better than that.

I have some firearms related slides etc that have been coated. They have held up well to the abuse so I would think a coated razor will last at least one lifetime.

I missed out on Fatboy Friday, but all the talk inspired me to pull out the Fatboy generously given to me by @Screwtape. (My other Fatboy “dissapeared” from postal tracking on the way to Delta Echo and then the box arrived with no razor in it... Hold your purse tight around clean shaven postal workers, men.)
Anyway, my Small tin of Viking Ragnar and sample of Fine Platinum AS weren’t photogenic enough for a SOTD shot, but the former helped me get one step closer to breaking in the omega boar knot in my awesome maple handle provided by @jtspartan. Now I’m one clean shaven good smelling guy... so at least I’ve got that goin’ for me.
In other news, I’ve started using alum as deodorant. I was wary at first, but have found it to work more effectively than commercial deodorants. Omega has a “stick” alum that works great for this.
    Happy Christmas Eve Eve, guys!

Gillette Super Speed J4 Birth Year and Quarter

    Nuàvia Rossa

A change up in hardware and software for the Christmas weekend. The Gillette Super Speed J4 is my birth year and birth quarter razor. It was the first vintage razor I bought back in the fall of 2014 and I switch to using it exclusively until purchasing the Mongoose and New LC. I really don't use the SS much anymore at all. This will be only the 16th time I have used the razor since 1/1/2015. Back for Christmas is the Nuàvia Rossa and the DK7. The DK7 whipped up a rich slick lather with the scent adding greatly to the shave. Three passes left me with a very good shave but it took some serious touch ups to get my normal results. While the SS is a smooth shaver it is just not as efficient as my preferred razors. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.

CVS and Walgreens have a Alum Deodorant stick in a twist up container for those that are interested. I keep one around for nicks and weepers since I don't use Alum after each shave.

    Weber SS
    Astra SP (6)
    Simpson Chubby 2 Super
    MdC shave soap

Alum, Thayers Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Alt-Innsbruck aftershave

It was a welcome return to decadence this morning. Two passes plus a few touch-ups, and I'm ready for the day. Two days until Christmas, and I hope you have a blessed time with family and friends.

I forgot I had this razor stashed in my DOPP kit and decided to take it for a spin. This morning’s shave had one of the nicest first passes I’ve had in a long time. I almost stopped there but decided to do a second cleanup pass for BBS. Great shave today

Mail man stopped by yesterday and dropped off a wonderful Christmas gift from Adam @Drygulch. Thanks so much Adam. :happy088:

So I put it in a container and went at it. The soap (Key Lime) whipped up very easily into a great lather with an excellent lime scent. Another great soap from Jeeves Soap. Thanks again Adam.

Oh yeah, I watched Barney Miller reruns while I shaved today. Is that decadence or what?

I like to think I'm flexible and change with the times. The last few days it has been All in the Family and M*A*S*H reruns during shave time.

Yes, I remained focused at all times. :kar:

Tabac Tuesdays! Did someone mention Citrus Sundays and Menthol Mondays?

Thank you Clint! Gillette did a fine job of manufacturing. From the knurling pattern to the plating these are holding up well.

I've been considering the switch. Thanks for the purchasing option suggestions!

Great photo, Doug! Little bit of the tropics in snow! I hope you enjoy the soap, with that one delivered I think all of them have arrived.
