B&M Latha Figgy Pudding sample
Alum and Lucky Tiger
Today's soap was originally Sample J in the
@Vlasta Mystery Cream Challenge. I had a bit left over so I decided to use it today. I have several other samples of B&M Latha and regular tallow soaps that I will start using tomorrow.
I squished the small sample out in the bottom of my horn quaich and then lathered it with a damp synthetic brush. As I did, I added water. I kept adding more and more water, and the soap just kept producing more and more mounds of slick shiny lather. I quit when the bowl was overflowing; I sensed that the lather was no where near breaking yet and, in fact, there was still a bit of unused soap left in the bottom of the bowl when I cleaned it at the end. Impressive. I lathered up for three passes and had enough left for probably another three passes. All from a bit of soap the size of a small almond.
The scent was great. Spicy and very Christmasy, although I couldn't tell you exactly what it was. But very pleasant.
Three passes went slick and smooth. The alum was a bit warm in spots afterwards -- I think I have done a few too many three-pass shaves in a row lately. I didn't have a scent that would exactly go with the soap but in the end went with Lucky Tiger's Christmas orange.
Overall, a great shave.
