Christmas shave with the razor I received for Christmas this morning.
    Stirling Rose Soap
    Stirling Brush
    Brian Brown 6/8 Razor
    Thayers Rose WH
    Thayers Rose After Shave
This is a sweet shaver. Three pass BBS with no irritation, right out of the box. This is definitely staying in my rotation. Merry Christmas![IMG]

No because I rarely get to enjoy one. I'm not supposed to smoke or drink alcohol according to my doctors. I've been good about the smoking. Quit in 2007, had my last fine cigar around 2010. I still have the occasional vodka martini or Schlafly beer. I do miss the cigars at times.

A Toggle. Rapira blade. Setting Neal. That just spells perfection.

Thanks for the info on it. I was reading that one of the differences between this razor and a Fatboy is that on this razor, the adjustment does not change the angle (bend of the blade,) the adjustment on the Toggle just moves the safety bar and makes a bigger gap. On the other Gillette Adjustables the adjustment changes the bend of the blade and lifts it away from the bar. Supposedly that accounts for a difference in the shaves between the two. I like the balance quite a bit. I choke higher on all my razors, so that was intuitive to me. I really enjoyed how smooth the shave was. The weight made it easy.

You are correct, two different methods of adjustment.

I'm hoping you have a Fatboy and can post your thoughts on differences.

I started my Gillette adjustable journey with a light Super Adjustable. I ended with Toggles and Red Dot Fatboy. I found that the heavier they got, the better I liked them. They get smoother.

DECember Christmas Day & Focus Maintained

    Proraso Green soap
    30 DC LE Cashmere
    Suribachi, cool water
    '46-'47 Aristocrat, Sputnik
    Alum, Proraso Green AS

Thought I'd cycle through the Proraso soaps in my cabinet. Lined up for a Menthol Monday during a Decadent Lather Focus so I loaded the synth brush twice. I may have to go back and see if I've been Super-Gooping without having studied the process. I loaded, scraped the knot of easily removed prelather, dribbled cool tap water across the knot, and loaded again. "Use More Product" can fix a weak mix. This batch showed I had enough soap, slowly hydrated and whipped up a nice yogurty lather. Carefully grabbed up a loose blade of unknown uses and put the 'Crat to a couple days growth. Regular patterns, including chin buffing and slides, but with a thicker than normal spread of menthol goodness. Swiping with the alum block gave no indication of scraping, and better yet found no remaining stubble. Rinsed and applied the Green Lotion, then another half a dose because I enjoy the minty cool scent.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

    Decadent December!!!

    December 25

Razor - Delta Echo New LC
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Truefitt & Hill 1805
    Brush - Jayaruh #46
    Post - Alum

Nice easy shave tonight. Stayed with the New LC and Ladas. Went with T&H 1805 with the JR46. This soap has a great feel and is super slick. A bit touchy on the water but not hard to adjust right to perfection. The scent is nice as well. Truefitt & Hill has been in business since 1805. Something tells me their soaps should work.

Two passes and not much touchup tonight. Ended with a DFS and I'm a happy camper after a very relaxing day with my wife. Nothing special or fancy, just some quality time, a little Netflix, a treat of some ice cream from the convenience store on the corner after dinner and all's well. I have tomorrow off as well so no rush to get back into the rat race after the holidays. Hope you all had a great day and enjoyed your holiday! And, for those of you who shared all of your gifts with us........some great looking stuff out there.

At this point, if I purchase no more soap I should be able to shave liberally for about a decade.

Arko Challenge is back for a day....

Hope everyone had a lovely day of sharing meals and companionship with those you care most about! Arko is back today after another short shave break. Easy work with the @jtspartan 30DC Tuxedo. A lovely two-phase shave occurred early this morning, odd for me, but I really was able to get an easy shave out of the most simple of shave kits. Alum was good, no errors, near bbs with the Heroic finish! I'm kinda sore from all the snow I shoveled the last 36 hours! It was our first snow in 62 days. Other than that... All is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a terrific Tuesday!

    :)
