Oh my... post-Christmas I have some catching up. I’ve “dropped” in the last few days to see how it’s going. Looks like everyone had good times with loved ones and had great shaves with nice gear. Even better is seeing kids having fun or just looking cute. Thanks for sharing them! Planning a shave later today... but got to do some reading first!
DFS with the Jayaruh#59 loading the Rte 66 Cavendish this morning. I'm gambling that the Cavvy can hold out for a couple more shaves this week. Getting pretty close to rock bottom.
So, I hit the fast forward button to today, no way I was going to catch up on all those posts. I hope everyone had a great holiday! Fantastic photo, Clint! That is a gorgeous brush, Mark!
SOTN December 26th [no pic] Ikon X3 Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum (7) Stirling MITA Yaqi 28MM Tuxedo Style (Destroyer Class) Last night I went after 4 days of beard growth with the Ikon X3 and a well used Gillette 7 O' Clock black. I soused my MITA sample and proceeded to load up what turned out to be about half of the remaining portion with my my Destroyer Class Yaqi Tuxedo style brush. I have found one flaw with Stirling soaps (and most one those that use it will never experience it, unless you use a hot scuttle), It will not form a passable lather in a hot scuttle (This has happened with every Stirling scent I've tried so far, haven't tried the mutton tallow though). So for the first pass, after making a foamy bubbly mess in the scuttle I have to face lather it into the creamy Stirling goodness we all know. Once the scuttle cools down a little you can proceed to transform the foam into a nice lather. Once I had a good lather the X3 and 7 O'Clock Black had no issues, they wiped away whisker and lather without any trouble and left me with a 3 pass BBS shave. This was my 10th shave on my Stirling MITA sample and I think I will only get one more shave out of it. So 11 shaves on 30 grams of soap means I am using up about 2.5 grams of soap per shave, now if I could only stop ordering soap I might actually begin to reduce my inventory.
Thank you Clint, He had a blast! He didn't quite get the concept of opening presents but he was thoroughly entertained with all of his new toys.
Thank you, Doug! I hope you are getting along well in the frozen north! Have you got much snow lately ?
December 27, 2017 Razor: Bakelite US Gillette Tech Blade: German Wilkie (3) Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22 Cream: KMF fragrance-free Post: Alum, Listerine, WH Second shave with the newly-acquired Bakelite Tech. This is my third Bakelite razor (after a Clix and a Star) and another case of a Gillette that was hiding in a Star case. Like the shave on Christmas day, today's was smooth and efficient, bringing home the baby with no issues. One thing... I'd really like to find one or two of the plastic Gillette cases from the Wartime sets. Anybody have a spare they might be willing to swap for?

DECember DMV Focus Proraso Sandalwood Omega Pro #10098 Suribachi & cool water The Bunny, Chick blade Pinaud Special Reserve I developed a habit of moving my pocket stuff from yesterday's pants to the next as I dress. Somewhere between last use of the debit card and yesterday I misplaced my wallet. So I gathered the important papers, stopped by the bank for some cash (Hurray for small town banks that know your face!) and arrived at the DMV in time to read the notice that they were closed until today. That lead me to today's third of three Proraso products. Easy loading from the tub with a bog ole boar brush. Scraped out the proto-lather and loaded some more soap for a bowl of thick, slick, & goopy goodness. NOTSO comb in The Bunny and 3 passes, a little edging around the mustache, and one tiny spot of blood on my chin from too much pressure. The cool tap water sealed it up, so I skipped alum and applied a splash of Indiana Jones Cologne. Now I'm off to the DMV for a new photo, if I have my papers in order. Good Shaves Y'all!
Great post. Good luck on reducing your soap inventory. I failed at reducing my soap inventory because I replace them faster than I use them up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
