I recall them going from pulling up to flat out running happening very quickly. It is shocking how something so small can move so fast.

Great set up, Andrew! You son has gotten so big. Once they start walking, you can't hardly keep up with them. I am always shocked at how fast my little 22 month old can run around the house, especially when I am chasing her.

Fantastic photo, Doug! You seem to be really enjoying the Oleo Soapworks lately. I haven't heard much about them, where are they from ?

:thanks: Andrew. I would say that the Oleo Soapworks soap will be my soap find of the year. The products are great and the people are excellent to deal with. Can't get much better than that in my books. :happy088:

I remember being excited for my kids to start walking. Then when they did, I realized how lucky I was before they did. LOL.
Now, the further along I get in the journey, the more I’m learning to stop looking forward and just enjoy the moment I’m in. They go by faster than you expect, so you’ve gotta enjoy them as much as possible as they happen.

Excellent pictures Andrew. Young man is growing like a weed. :happy088:

You spend most of your time teaching them to walk and talk and the rest of your time telling them to sit down and shut up. :happy102:

Stayed on focus with the ‘crat jr, but went away from my sample focus to try a soap I got from my inlaws for Christmas. It is made by a well-established soap company and store in a hamlet about an hour or so away. They are known for their goat’s milk soaps and to be honest, I didn’t even know they made shaving soap. After reading the label, any excitement I had was quickly dissipated. No goat’s milk. How does a company that keeps goats on the roof of their shop (I can’t make this up) and has a goat on their label not have any goat milk or tallow in their soap? In reading the label, I had flashbacks to Prohibition Style- a whole bunch of oils including coconut, palm etc. I have no coconut scented soaps, so I guess getting to try something new is good. Also, it is a translucent soap. I’ve never had a shave soap that was clear before, only a few bar soaps.
The tub is also not a positive. It is a true 2 inch tub. No one who ever shaves would make a 2 in tub. Also, the instructions on the bottom said to spread a ‘thin’ layer of soap on the face. Again, I’m thinking Prohibition Style and a subtle warning that a thick lather won’t be possible.
All in all, I was not too stoked for my shave this morning, but a thoughtful gift is a thoughtful gift and I wanted to give it a go.
I chose the 30 DC as one of my two synthetic options as there was no way I was going to be able to get a big boar or badger into this tub. I had an awkward 30 second or so load, which was as messy as I anticipated, and then I took it to the bowl so that I could see what I was doing with this first lather. I was quite surprised- It took a lot more water than I thought it would, and produced enough thick lather for probably 6 passes. The scent was pleasant but a little weak.
The 3 pass shave was pretty routine. I finished with the Florida Water, because Why Not?. The face feel of the soap I would describe as average.
Overall, I’m pleasantly surprised, given that I had low expectations. I’d rate this soap as equal to others that give a nice lather without a lot of memorable properties, either in face feel, moisturizing, etc. Two that come to mind like that for me are TFS and Catie’s soaps. I might wander into that shop next time I drive through and enquire about a goat’s milk version.
The tub is still ridiculous, though.
    Have a great day all!

Beautiful pic, Clint. Christmas must have always been very busy in your house, with both Asha’s and your birthday in the same week.
The OneBlade is certainly getting a lot of compliments from you this month.

Great photo Jason! I rehomed several of my soaps that were in tins that I deemed too small. I'm glad the soap performed decently for you though!
    Thank you, Jason!

    RyX DoH!

My experience was much like this. I was still new to DE shaving when I scored my first FB. As my technique improved I upped the setting. Finding a Flare tip to be ok, then mild. A Red tip and setting 7 on the FB happened. Now I never back the FB off setting Neal, a Futur clone (Ming Shi 2000S) is an easy shave. Not everyone gets to the aggressive razor enjoyment part of the program. An adjustable gives the option without buying different hardware.
Do you shim blades in a SE? How was your experience with Tom's IGOR?

I'm going to try reading some limericks in Fuzzy's Captain Kirk voice.

Give them a practical demonstration? Bring an Aircraft Carrier Class brush and a large tub of soap that lathers well, and your tub of their soap. A couple minutes with their crew, or HPWIC ought to illustrate the folly of a 5cm tub.

Great photo Jason. Seems like the soap turned out to be pretty good with the exception the container size.

Thank you Jason. With Maya's birthday being right around our Thanksgiving holiday, it is really busy around here until the New Year. Even though I didn't get the OneBlade until mid July, it will be my most used razor this year. I am really having a difficult time putting it aside to use my other razors. I will try to do a better job next month.
