I just tried the Wintergreen, and it smells great. The thing is,these types of soaps have a burning feeling on my skin,I never get a cold feeling from them. I wonder if I'm having a negative reaction from them? My skin is fine after my shave, but I don't feel the chill.
Okay,I just finished shaving using Stirling Lemon Chill, and it was not cold at all.It was more like Lemon Tropical Heat. It's not an unpleasant burn, and it's less than what I feel when I use an after shave.I think you're on to something about me being allergic to essential oils. A couple of weeks ago,I made a melt and pour soap, Orange Cream Sickle ,and It used orange essential oils and vanilla fragrance. It burned a little but it wasn't uncomfortable. The next day my wife noticed my face was red,and it did feel a little warm. That's when I though I got a sun burn because of the phototoxic properties of orange essential oils. It lasted for two days. Maybe I'm just allergic to the oils?I think I'm going to try my home made soap again on a day I don't go outside to see if it was a sunburn or just an allergic reaction. That shouldn't be too hard with the cold weather we've been having on the east coast.
I'd lean toward a reaction to the oils in the soap. The burning sensation is your key indicator. I recently ordered up some Executive Man and Sharp Dressed Man, both soap and AS. The Executive Man worked wonderfully, while the Sharp Dressed Man set off my skin and produced a reaction just as you noted above. Too bad, I loved the scent of SDM.
I'm going to keep using my shaving soaps, since I don't have any post shave problems. But the melt and pour that I made is a different story, since it did effect me for a couple of days.
I never tried the Executive Man. The Sharp Dressed Man gives me no irritation or burning whatsoever and I also love the scent.

My kids got me matching soap/aftershave sets of Red Eye and Clubman for Christmas. I gave the Red Eye a go today, and it's great stuff. It's a ringer for Polo Red, and seeing as how that is my wife's favorite scent, I see this getting a lot of use. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
All Stirling software today with a Kong brush. Superb shave. That's Ozark Mountain aftershave tucked down in there.
I bet that's my problem with Spice A.S.. (Oops, I think I said that same thing in reply to another post).
