This focus thing is awesome and continues to provide results. FWIW, a focus goes way beyond shaving, and is a great technique in life. I learned long ago in business that when you set goals, you will only achieve the ones you focus on. I've also learned that to in order to lead a team you must make sure they are all coordinated in focusing on the right things, or they ultimately won't be successful as a team. It doesn't just happen on its own, but requires discipline and an active will. Anyway, enough of the Tony Robbins moment...

Only 2 days into my focus, and it's amazing what you can learn when you pay attention to what you are doing. Today I started with trying to map my beard pattern in a hot shower. It ended up being much easier there as my face was more lubricated and the whiskers were more pliable than when dry. I might try again tomorrow with some soap, but this technique helped a lot. Unfortunately, all this focus on finding against the grain got stuck in my head and I did my first pass ATG. Fortunately, good technique made this incident free, but left some stubble for the second pass, so I decided to do the second pass in a combination of XTG and ATG as needed, almost like a cleanup pass, but with more work to do. The end result was a DFS+/BBS- at the end of two passes.

For the second day in a row I used a modern razor (Delta Echo Cubano - house brand) for my shave. This razor has been an especially good one, and I think gives me a superior shave to my vintage Gillettes. Once I finish with the grain direction/pass focus, I may focus on comparing the two and seeing if the differences are as much as it appears.

Thanks, Dan! Feeling okay. Stomach issues are gone but I have a nagging cold and a little bit of pinkeye (which I can't remember ever having). Unusual and frustrating, but it'll work itself out and all will be well soon. Thanks for asking!

I am truly glad that this is a short work week since I am really not feeling that well. At times like this it is nice to have everything just work well together which has been the case this week. Today was my first use of Mike's shaving soap. Today I picked the Vetiver scent which as the name implies just straight vetiver. This is not a green vetiver but a deep earthy smokey scent that is very intense. The girls did not like the scent off the puck but I actually like the scent. Mike's is a harder soap than most other artisan soaps and took just a little longer to load. Taking time to add water slowly while I face lathered, the scent got even deeper. The resulting lather was very thick, rich and slick. Three passes and touch ups ended with a near perfect shave. My lower right neck once again proved to be my nemesis. A splash of Fine Fresh Vetiver and I am off to fight the morning commute. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

Great start to your January Focus

Great start to the New Year.

You can see they didn't put a lot of quality control effort into consumer products

    Great looking Valet.

Congrats on the blood free shave Jim. Hope the rest of your day goes well.

Wonderful lineup Perry. The Proline seems to be a great blade for injectors as well.

Focus really does work. Congrats on such a great start to the month.
