    YESTERDAY'S SHAVE

Prep: shower with Razorock Sandalwood bath soap
    Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic
    Blade: Croma Diamant
    Soap: Wild West Wichita
    Post: CL YRP aftershave

Very nice scent from Wichita, it has a pink hue to it and does have a rose scent, but it is mixed with bay rum, Vetiver and other notes. Very nice mix. Got a decent shave and paired it with YRP to continue that rose type scent thru the rest of the day.

    20180104_154253.jpg

Prep: shower with RR Sandalwood, Occams Crushed Lime pre shave soap
    Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic
    Blade: Super-max Platinum
    Brush: Razorock BC Plissoft
Soap: Crown & Crane Deep Ellum
    Post: C&C Deep Ellum balm

Nice refreshing shave from C&C. The scent of Deep Ellum is a citrus with floral notes and Pachouli, they all blend together to make something that resembles a expensive Brittish cologne. Soap was slick and held a lot of water without breaking down. The balm is thick and concentrated, I accidently used a bit too much and had to really make sure to rub all the balm in. The body powder is a nice addition to any set and may replace my favorite Clubman talc. Hope everyone had a great shave!

Tonight's shave was with an old Sheffield razor. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, with DFS results. I was rushed. At least I didn't get hurt. Excellent top shelf razor.

I’ve been hearing comments about some safety razors being 80 years old and performing like new. Well, here’s my contribution; this old fella is at least 200 years old. Dated to around 1800, this old wedge will whack whiskers like nobody’s business, leaving nothing behind but bbs dolphin smooth skin:). Who knows, it may have been used by Robert E Lee’s pappy!

Thank you. Personally, I like concise, to-the-point, reviews. However, tt's not my style to write---or even think about it---that way, so my meandering is what you get when you read my reviews.

Thank you, I have been so busy with most of my grandchildren over the Holidays, then a bunch of Dr. appointments. I guess you must take the bad with the good. God Bless, Clint, and thank you for your concern.

    FRIDAY'S SHAVE

Razor - Vintage Gillette Superspeed circa 1947-1952 (re-plated in nickel by Razor Emporium)
    Blade - BiC Chrome-Platinum *4th shave
Shave Brush - 20mm GBS Syntethetic 3rd generation
Suds - Dandy Shaving Co. Cold Spice (Based on Bay Rum scent)
Deodorant - Sam's Natural "Bay" Scent
Aftershave/Fragrance - Clubman Pinaud "Virgin Island Bay Rum"

No fancy pre-shave oil, no post-shave balms or creams. Just straight up soap, blade and splash. The old way. The last time I used this soap it was so cold I couldn't feel my face for 25 minutes after the shave. I'm not really into cold shaves, nor tallow that can sometimes irritate, but this soap is the best smelling bay rum soap I tested in late 2016 when doing all my Bay Rum trials. Ultimately Ogallala took 2nd place due to its scent and decent lather ability. I never forgot Dandy Shave's scent though. The owner of Dandy Shave Co. shipped me a free puck of his shave soap for my trials. I begged him to make a vegetal, non-menthol formula, but he refused. :angry017: Ogallala was bested only by Dandy's Cold Spice scent. I still have the bay rum soaps and aftershaves from the trials. I decided to pull this combination off the shelf for this round of Bay Rum delight. My face is going to be 'frozen' but my nose will thank me for hours and hours.

Edit - the shave came out great. Over a year later the menthol seems to have lost some of its power because my face didn't go into deep freeze like last time. The shave came out fantastic and luckily so far, no itchy bumps (knock on wood). Face is BBS. I'm getting pretty good at the 2 pass + cleanup with my DE razors because my shaves in the last month or so have gotten more consistently great.

Thank you sir. I really enjoyed the Neroli soap. Even the wife commented on the scent. It seemed to make us both feel a bit better after a tough night. After fighting brain tumors, cancer and pneumonia, my wife's brother passed away at the young age of 56. It makes you appreciate life's simple pleasures.

    Shavettes and Jeeves January!

    January 4

Razor - 1918 Gillette Old Style
    Blades - [IMG] (2)
    Pre-Shave - Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
Soap - Jeeves of Hudson Street Bay Rum
Brush - Stirling 26mm Pro Handle Synthetic
    Post - Alum

A bit earlier shave than usual but it was my day off and I have an early appointment for my monthly med check before I go to work in the morning. With any luck I'll be in bed a bit earlier than usual. Normally that doesn't work, but we'll see.

I stayed with the centenarian razor today and switched the brush to the Stirling synthetic. I really like the feel of this brush. It's my biggest knot and makes for a quick load and lather. The 1918 performed flawlessly again with the Russian Swede. Two passes, DFS, and the alum was mostly quiet. I'm a very happy camper with that result.

I'm hoping to be able to switch some Jeeves soaps around in a few days. They are sending me some samples to try out and review. I let them know it was Jeeves January on here and they seemed quite happy for the notice. Thanks again to @Drygulch for spreading the Jeeves love around!

I've been waiting to see one of these. Congrats on the razor. It's expensive but seems like a lot of effort was put into the design and eventual build by Matt Pisarcik. It's expensive even for the engineering detail given to it. I've been on the fence about buying one. Razor Emporium have done all the plating on my vintage and antique razors. I don't mind paying a lot for those because of their age and history. I might one day buy a Rex Ambassador but not at this time. I hope the razor you bought shaves up to the highest standards. It seems like a real high-end adjustable and Matt Pisarcik is a deep expert on razor designs going back more than a century. If anyone knows what all the annoying 'flaws' are in the old designs and could come up with ideas to make a new bullet-proof design, it would be Matt. He has quite an obsession with the details of virtually every past razor design.

Had a hankering to try P&B Whitechapel this evening! For some reason the smoke accord really came to the front so The Holy Black Sandalwood Smoke tonic seemed like the perfect pairing. The DR did what it does best :)
