Wondering, how often do some of you rotate your razors? Everyday? Once a week or month? Do you remove the blade and load it into the next razor or do you keep your razors loaded and ready to go?
I change blades after every 3/4 shaves - once a week. Usually just put the new one in on Sunday. I'll often swap razors when i throw out the old blade, otherwise it's just whenever it takes my fancy. If I realise I haven't used a particular one in a while I might use that. Or if I've got a new soap I'll go with one I know.
Mon-Fri for DEs. Fresh blade in on Monday, swap blade to next razor every day. Toss blade after Friday's shave. Saturday for straights. Next razor up every Saturday. Sunday's for SEs. Fresh blade in the first of the month, move blade to next razor every Sunday. Toss after shave of the last Sunday of the month. Fresh DE blade every Monday, fresh SE every first Sunday of the month - never have to worry about how many shaves are on the blade. I also know I can get 6-7 shaves on both DE and SE blades. Tossing after 5 shaves means I never deal with tugging or pulling from a blade on its way out.
Some of my razors rarely see my face. One in particular (Valet AutoStrop) is NOS and has never been used. I think if I had a better display situation, I would rotate through my gear better. As it is now, I can't even see my soaps; my razors are in a drawer and my scents are in multiple areas. Therefore, I pick randomly from what I can see easily. Definitely not ideal.
Stain a board, add some L hooks, hang. I start at top left, work down that column, up to top of middle column, work down...
I change my razor when I change blades using a random"what do I pick today?" method. No rhyme or reason. Herm
I’ll use the same razor from Monday through Friday and then pick a different razor for the following week. My weekends are dedicated for straight razor shaves.
I randomly rotate through 2 DE razors though the week, I try to use 1 of my 2 active straights on the weekend.
No particular rotation. I generally have a Gillette adjustable and a Gillette non-adjustable on the counter. I kinda pick one on a whim and swap them out after a few weeks use. Keeps things simple.
I usually change razors every day, just for the fun of it. I don't go through every one of them, but try to use a type of each one (CC, OC, TTO, Adj., etc.). Blades get changed every four or five shaves, unless I feel like changing it to try something new.
I use whatever feels right on any given day. No rhyme or reason, just mood. It's one variable in my day that I can have control of and do what I want that doesn't affect anyone else. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
I change blades every 4-5 shaves. I don't have a razor rotation as of yet. I do have 2-3 razors I alternate between when the mood strikes. Depends on the Shave I guess. Thing is I have more razors sitting in the wings that I'm not totally comfortable with yet. Seeing how I'm not a full year into wet shaving I still feel like I'm still learning.
I will either use the same blade in one razor for a week, or sometimes I will change razors daily and move the blade to the new razor. I do straights on Saturday, and I do my lather catcher on Sundays. Injectors, I change the blade when it feels like it needs changing. They generally last a long time.
I change razors on a whim. Almost never use the same razor back to back. I have 20ish razors laying around the sink at any given time. Usually there are 6 or 7 blades floating around. I move blades as needed. Once one feel bad it goes. If I pick up a razor with no blade I take the blade from the nearest razor usually.
When I like it. I typically use the same razor for weeks (or months). But I only have three DE razors, so that's easy. -- Pitralon forever - Real pens have a nib - If it doesn't tick, it's not a watch.
I typically have three or four favorite razors by the sink. I supplement this other guest appearances from the display cabinet (vintage SE). All my SE razors are loaded and ready to go. The few DE razors I own get a new blade each time I use one. I usually choose my setup the night before for SOTD, starting with a razor.
I rarely shave with the same razor two consecutive days in a row anymore. I pick one from my collection every morning. My selection includes DE razors, Straight razors, Shavettes, Cartridge razors, and even disposables. I am very comfortable shaving with all of these tools - but I do have favorites. I don't change the blade, or cartridge until it looses its effectiveness. Pretty much leave it in a specific razor till it's done. I have even tried to shave a straight razor without stropping. I don't recommend that. The pick of the day is influenced by the kind of shave I prefer and beard growth. One other determining factor - time available for the shave.
