    Saturday shave

    Razor: Cooper 3-piece
    Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock Blue
    Soap: Soap Commander Honor
    Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip
    AS: Barbasol Brisk

First try with the Cooper. It's takes proprietary blades, but I jammed a modern blade in there and tightened it down. The blade flattened out just fine. The result was a fairly mild 2-pass BBS. Very nice.[IMG]

The old badger knot is fraying quickly. I'm not sure I'm into the badger hair smell and it has zero backbone (but it is very soft) which lends to some of the lather being wasted on the fringes of the fraying hair.

I once looked into whether Razor Emporium was able to change out the knot with info from PlanofMan about the construction of the brush. Razor Emporium had never changed out the knot in this brush and upon learning of the construction they opted to refuse the work due to being uncertain if they would permanently damage the brush handle. So, it seems a knot change is 'tricky' in this handle and I'm wondering if anyone knows of someone who has the courage and skill to put a synthetic knot in this Safari brush handle?

    What material is the handle?

Here is the info PlanofMan gave me on the brush construction:

"The pewter brush was cast around a plastic core. It was plated in copper, then plated in sterling silver. The knot is from Korea and is attached via a dab of hot melt. A little elbow grease and anyone can pull it without damaging the knot and replace it with any knot sized for a 24mm opening...Also, 2 part epoxy does not bond well with the plastic core."

I gave this exact information to two different revamp-vendors (Razor Emporium & The Shaving Room UK). Neither of them would touch the re-knot project.

Same as pivot head. Actually, Personna calls it a "Floating Head". there are quite a few "pivots" out there, from the cartridge to the "one".
