    wchnu Duck Season!

I just noticed that I have not gotten in a single shavette shave so far this month. I do not own any of that Jeeves stuff. I will drag out the LORD plastic shavette tomorrow maybe.

What I did do was have a fantastic shave from a great Schick Adjustable before work tonight. These things are not my favorite injector...but they do rock!!

Great writeup, Neal. Thanks for posting it. I just spent the weekend at my favourite uncle's funeral. He was 83, so in that same generation as your Dad, a farmer and oilfield geologist. From the sounds of it, he and your Dad would have gotten along like a house afire. That was a great generation of men.

I’m a big fan of the man in black and Willie.

It’s the same for me, the first three passes get me on the on the green in regulation and the final pass, ATG is the money pass.

Amazing post, thank your for sharing.

    Colonial Razor “The General”
    Feather Pro (1)
    Thater Beehive White Boar
    Fine Platinum

Hardware change for the new week. I will be using the General in brass along with my new Thater Boar brush. I did palm lather the brush last week about 7 times or so this morning was its first actually use. The big boar loaded and lathered the Platinum easily. The tips are already split enough that face lathering was enjoyable and should get better with more use. Loaded with a Feather Pro blade the General feels much like a super sized New LC. Three passes and touch ups ended in a near perfect shave. My lower right neck proving to be my nemesis as usual. A splash of Fine Platinum and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

I take a few days off, and I am over 200 posts behind! I don't know if I will catch that up or not, but it looks like Charlie @wristwatchb had a great trip. I also saw quite a few nice pictures.

I took my son hunting with my dad as sort of a birthday present to my son. It was a lot of fun, and I saw my dad as excited about hunting as I have in a very long time. It was great to have some time with both of them. I didn't shave while out on the trip, but did as soon as we got back to my parents place on Saturday. It looked like this:

I did one pass as we were in a hurry. And got about a SAS put of it. Sunday morning, before heading to there church I shaved again:

It was the same set up, and so I went for a single XTG pass and got very near a BBS. It made for a nice wrap up to the trip.

This morning I shaved at the gym. I only needed a touch up again, so a single WTG pass, and I was somewhere between a SAS and CCS which is more than good enough for this Monday. I hope everyone has been doing well.

    Prep: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: GEM PTFE
    Razor: GEM G-Bar
    Brush: Stirling Kong synthetic
    Soap: Stirling Scots Pine Sheep
Post: Witch hazel, Pitralon Classic aftershave
    WTG, touch up

Blade trial continues. Today is a PTFE blade for the G-Bar. Wow - felt great. I have no issues with the plain stainless blades from GEM but this one felt a good bit smoother. I had tried PTFE blades a while back but my technique is a lot better with the GEM razors now and I can tell these are good blades. Smooth and comfortable all around.

This Scots Pine sample has probably one more shave left. That will be Wednesday most likely. Tomorrow will be a tobacco-themed shave. Some great photos and posts happening in this thread as usual. Let's have a great day!

Oh nice! Didn't trealize we could do that...

I've been working in the IT industry for the past 25 years or so. But I still didn't see the multiquote option!

I've seen a lot of reference to these subjects, but still don't fully comprehend the ramifications of them. :)

    As far as shaves go:

I shaved last night (decided to shave at night, so if I get a red face, I don't have to wear it at work and I can take my time to do my shave).
New blade, setting at 1.5 and I tried to "ride the cap" as much as possible. This was my third shave. Much, much more smooter than my first two shaves.

If had to rate them, I would say that my first shave was a 4 out of 10 (had a 3 day stubble), my second shave was a 3 out of 10 and my last one was a 6 out of 10.

I still had some burning sensation but no bloodletting. The shave was not as close as my second one, where I scrape about half an inch of skin in the process ... but I did have a BBS shave ;) (I am slowly getting the shaving lingo I think...)

Welcome to the 30DC, Steve! I joined in late Octoer 2016 so just over a year ago. I was fairly incompetent at all aspects of wetshaving then and now I get good shaves and quite enjoy it. Plus the company here is great!

I have a PIF running right now in the Freebies section of the Marketplace part of the board. (PIF= Pay It Forward, i.e. A free giveaway of some sort to fellow TSD members). Mine is for new members so you would be eligible . If you're interested, pop over there and throw your name in the virtual hat for the draw.

Sounds like a good third shave, Steve. You may have heard, but the Futur and the clones can be aggressive. They are terrific razors. Personally, I rarely shoot for BBS, as it helps reduce the chance of irritation. A nice Close Comfortable Shave (CCS) or Darn Fine Shave (DFS) is perfect for me. Thanks to this thread, I am able to get a minimum of this level with ease and comfort. Stick around and listen to some of masters on here, and I am sure you will get there too.
