Pre-shave: hot shower, Nivea Men Sensitive Face Wash, Shave Secret
Shave Gel: Nivea Men Sensitive Shaving Gel
Razor: Magic by Master Barber shavette
    Blade: Derby Professional (1)
Post-shave: Dickinson's Original WH, Nivea Men Sensitive PS Balm, C.O. Bigelow Barber No 1582 Cologne (Elixir Green)

In spite of the "blood bath" I endured yesterday... I continued with my focus on the shavette today. :p

I went ahead with changing out the blade, just in case, although I'm sure it was me that created the problem and not the blade. After all, this month is the first time I've ever used a shavette and I'm using the 30 DC this month to develop my technique / skill-level in using it. As I mentioned yesterday I believe I just got cocky. I hadn't shed any blood previously in using it, and I thought I could speed it up a little. Well.... I was wrong. :think002:

To assist the shave today I lined up my Nivea Men Sensitive shave products and went to town with them. Since I was using the shave gel out of the can, I simply lathered up my entire face and neck instead of doing sections at a time. I've never had the shave gel dry out on me and I didn't think it would. It didn't. Besides I needed to keep my hands clean so I could stretch the skin with the free hand.

I concentrated on going slow today. Short strokes. Started out on the right cheek with the right hand shaving N > S using the left hand to stretch the skin. Then I moved on to the left cheek with the left hand shaving N>S using the right hand to stretch the skin. Then I moved on to the neck, but I chose to use the dominant right hand for this part. After the 1st pass, my cheeks felt smooth, but my neck did not. So, I lathered up the neck again to do some clean-up.... very slowly, short strokes, concentrating on angle. The clean-up was good, not CCS but it was a DFS for sure.

As I was finishing up the clean-up on my neck I noticed a little blood seeping out from my right ear on the front side of the ear lobe. I knew that on my first pass on the right cheek I had caught the ear with the front of the razor, but I didn't notice anything at that time and I soon gave it no thought. Another consideration for next time. I just keep telling myself that I'll get good with it. :shaver

The post-shave felt wonderful. I picked out the C.O. Bigelow 1582 Elixir Green as my scent for the day. This one is new to me and I like it. I can't explain scents. I'm not good at that. I either like them or I don't. But for those who understand the base notes the package says, "Clean, Sophisticated and Woody. Elixir Green blends crisp, lush herbaceous notes with warm amber, musk and elegant woods."

We've had nice weather the last few days.... temperatures in the 40s and the 50sF. Winter is coming back tomorrow and colder the next few days.

I hope everyone is having a great week! Good shaves, my friends.

Thanks for the video! I watched it this morning before my shave. I liked the point that the shavette (or SR) is the ultimate adjustable razor. Never thought of it like that. But your video encouraged me to focus more on my shave this morning. Thank you, my friend! :happy088:

My first response to your post: :happy102:

My next thought -- I can't get my wife or my dogs to understand whose the boss. :happy097:

I have a G1 and I really like that one as well. I have a PAL adjustable and I enjoy my shaves with that. I have not had the pleasure of trying an Injecto-Matic though.
    Thanks for the input, guys.

The G1 is a all around awesome razor! I have not used a PAL adjustable yet.

Glad you find the video helpful. There are a few more shavette videos there. Even one with a homemade one. A blade glued to a stick.

I have had a wife and dog. The razor will be easier to tame!

Love the set up, John. I have the same razor, and while it doesn't have the significance as yours does with the family connection, I think it is a vastly underappreciated shaver.

Sounds like you are progressing very well with the Shavette, Dan! (A little red on the ear notwithstanding...)

I spotted them in an a picture of an old navy toolbox that someone was selling on Facebook and asked him if he would sell it separate. I offered him 5 for the DE razor because that’s all I saw. Then he came back with I’ll throw in both for 40. My counter $15 and was accepted lol.
