    Shavettes and Jeeves January!

January 10 - Stirling Iced Coffee Review

Razor - Feather SS Artist Club
    Blades - [IMG] (4)
Soap - Jeeves of Hudson Street Bay Rum
    Brush - 30 DC LE
    Post - Alum

Another day on the SS with Pro blade and back to the Jeeves as well. 30DC brush for an incredibly, almost stupidly easy lather. I don't know what to say other than the lather was awesome, the Jeeves Bay Rum is unique and a very nice experience, and after two passes and some touch up on the neck I have a near-BBS. I didn't push it too hard to avoid irritation or blood. Alum was mostly quiet and no blood. Success!!

Warmer today with highs in the mid-50s. Supposed to be in the low 60s tomorrow until early afternoon, then we're headed down to 16 with some freezing rain and sleet. Oh the joys of the Lou in the winter!

If the revolutionary fervor would get back in line the iron fist of repression would be much lighter. It's always those rabble rousers that ruin it for everyone else.

Caught up on a hundred post. Only grabbed one quote.
Not specific to that maker or scent of soap, but I've used vintage Williams stick & Colgate-Palmolive Cup soap. Both have little scent beyond basic soapiness. If it's Barbershop you are missing add a couple drops of AS early on while making your lather. Pinaud Clubman works very well.

As to how I got here, I walked in backwards. While visiting my aunt near Beaumont, Texas and doing some handyman repairs on her small 200 acre cattle zoo I caught an infomercial for a company selling knives. I didn't purchase a ninja sword with a free set of throwing stars. Looking at their website I found a B-day present for one of my boys. A 12 inch Bowie knife of the style he collects & it came with a matching straight razor.
    My First RSO.gif
Should have known for the price is was a RSO (razor shaped object). I brought it to a local shop that makes custom knives and razors. Guy behind the counter looked it over and told me "Bad Geometry, too heavy to shave with, and it's stamped Made in Pakistan". He'd have tried to put an edge on for more than I paid for my new letter opener. So here I am 2-1/2 years later having enjoyed a couple Whipped Dog straits, several shavettes, almost every vintage DE I like the looks of, & lots of Schicks. And a DE blade stapled between two Popsicle sticks thanks to joining The 30 DC.
I've improved my technique and comfortably use a Fatip, new to me Futur Clone, and my Fat Boy stays on setting Neal. Super Goop? Yes, Sir! There is that one thing about this place though. Big flashing Entrance sign, but no exits clearly marked. I'm OK with that.

    Focus gone, but enjoying myself

    Klar Almond soap
    B-400 Omega knot
    Suribachi bowl
    New Long Comb
    Personna LB blade
    Barbasol Brisk AS

    SOTD 01102018.gif
Just not feeling the Shavette Fever, but a Vintage Gillette makes my day. Used a big almost broken in Omega Pro 98 knot in a tiny aluminum tub of quintuple milled German soap. Soused? You bet, and it loaded in about 20 seconds leaving the lather in the photo after 3 passes - plenty of G-Slides & chin buffing. No errors or blood so I skipped the alum and splashed on the discontinued AS like it's going out of style.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

I disagree. To Enjoy one’s shave, however you get there, is a Focus. Well done sir.

Ok, I'm noticing a trend. Seems like some of you are claiming that you can actually get a decent, usable lather from Williams. Modern Williams? I checked my blood pressure, sugar, alcohol level, all within normal limits so I know I'm not hallucinating. This can only mean one thing. I guess I need to pull out my long sealed and lightly used puck of Williams in the near future and try some of the tips you say work. Not because I need another soap in rotation, but simply because if it works......it may need to be recorded as a miracle.

Ah, she's harmless. Well, mostly. Oh, and she's single too so any eligible bachelors out there? We might have to auction off a date with her!

Exits are available, you just have to ask whichever of the boys is on duty........and sober. That's a rare occurrence. Alternatively, you can take Natalia out to dinner.

I have been disappointed with modern Williams many times in the past... but I have also been pleasantly amazed too, and today it was amazing... and I didn’t molest it!

The non molesting is the important part.

:prrr: Nothing simple about one of those. Bland and boring yes. Grew up with standards. I have my Grandads last truck that is a standard. Love it.

    Woo!!
