I must be getting old. I spent more time looking at the pitchers of beer than the barmaid.

Pitchers of beer? What pitchers of beer? I didn't see any pitchers of beer.

It's one of those optical illusion things. If you cover the top half of the photo, the beer magically appears.

Whew! I'm finally caught up... +100 posts on this thread alone. I think enough has been said about the topics of the last 36 hours or so... inspired shaves to those who shaved. A couple of Happy Birthdays!

Very good. One really precise shavette pass is actually passable for most days.

    The finishing stone comparison continues:

This test is a pair of Koraats, both 7/8, one with a half grind the other a 3/4 grind. This time the SG20k finished razor was a clear winner, it was definately smoother and definitely sharper. The Shapton is still in the lead, 3-2.

    Irritation A+ Closeness A- Smoothness A+ Sharpness A

    Razor: Koraat 7/8 (S16)
    Stop: T Miller
    Brush: Kent BK8
    Pre: Nivea
    Soap: QCS
AS: Alt Insbruck enhanced AS, L’Ocitanne
    Scent: Dior Fahrenheit

    Irritation A+ Closeness A+ Smoothness A+ Sharpness A+

    Razor: Koraat ‘Splash’ 7/8 (GS20k)
    Stop: T Miller
    Brush: Simpson Polo 8
    Pre: Nivea
    Soap: QCS

    Shavettes and Jeeves January!

    January 15
    Razor - 1959 (E1) Gillette Super Speed
    Blades - gillette-sputnik.jpg (1)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Post - Alum

Another old school relaxing shave for the middle of the month. Yep, January is halfway done. Time flies when you're having fun. Or shaving. Or talking about shaving.

Grabbed my 1959 Super Speed and threw a Sputnik in it. Sputnik. The poor man's Voskhod. Ok, so it's really just the teflon blade from St. Petersburg, but it's a good blade to have around. Not quite as smooth as the Voskhod but it does a nice job nevertheless. Two passes on a great MWF lather with the Wolf and I was DFS. Did some touch ups and the baby showed up. Very nice performance from a classic setup.

Tomorrow night will be a special night, all for @wchnu . As most of you know I am not a fan of modern Williams. That's an understatement. I don't really find it useful even as mosquito repellent. But, given Fuzzy's return and his sharing videos that seem to prove that Williams might actually lather (still think it's a video trick), I'm going to break out my puck of Williams that I bagged, tagged, and sealed in a container so it couldn't hurt anyone the last time I tried to get it to lather. I'm going to use a synthetic brush with it and use every trick in the book to get a lather. Will I have to humble myself and admit it can be done? Tune in tomorrow as.....The Williams Turns!
