I like the rule of not using items that are in the sell pile. Love the razor.

Great photo Amigo. The Hempel handle really looks nice on that razor.

I’m starting to like powdery scents a little more than I used to. I might even break out my almost never used Clubman.

My catch up post. Mostly not shave related.

Light Bulbs: I like the idea of LEDs, as they shouldn’t generate any heat if designed correctly. Having lived in some houses with very old wiring, low heat options are always good. I would be very surprised if current LED light bulbs can be recycled, except by a specialty company. Most recycling companies can’t separate metal and glass from plastic, which is the issue with all of the electronics and other items (like cart refills) not being recyclable.

K-Cups: Number one thought- Too expensive. It costs me less than 10 cents to make a pot of coffee at home. Too much waste too. See above on recycling. For me they are a means to an end. That end is delivering a lot of caffeine to me quickly. That said, I use them at work when I run out of the coffee I brought in my thermos. I run the same K-cup twice and get 24 ozs of coffee-like liquid. There are some companies that make ones that are 97% biodegradable, so when they end up in a landfill they have a chance of breaking down. Those are the ones I use.

Coffee Quality: I like black coffee. Strong. I use a Bun brewer at home because I won’t wait more than a minute or two for my first cup. I have to wake up before the rest of the house to caffeinate so I can be a nice person in the morning. We get coffee from World Market, and grind it there. It costs about the same as folders and Maxwell house, but tastes a lot better. I try to avoid coffee shops. Mainly because I am cheap.

Happy Birthday to @levelupshaves’s son and @norcalnewb’s wife.

Three people have killed a tub of soap in the first few weeks of 2018. @mrchick, @PLAla, and @Norcalnewb. Be sure to tag me so I don’t miss yours.

Currently 5 degrees in Kansas. I grew up in Phoenix. I don’t like this. Glad most of you are surviving.

Pretty sure the only way I'm going to kill any significant amount of tubs is to give them away. Seeing the bottom of a tub seems like a pipe dream to me. I guess that's the price I pay for having an overwhelming variety to choose from.

Same atmosphere, different weather. I had relatives from Phoenix once....and now one of them bought a house in Scottsdale for his Phooenix business trips.

Tabac warmed up in a make-shift scuttle
    Omega #20248 boar brush
    Suribachi bowl & warm water
'55 Gillette Red Tip, Astra SP blade
    Stetson Avon Wild Country AS

At or near freezing temps here on the South Coast so I improvised a scuttle using a Corelle baking dish of hot water to float my shave bowl. Worked so well I'm sure to repeat the setup. Warm Tabac lather beats icy water from the tap. Checked the Flare Tip, it was loaded with what looked like a fresh blade so I went with it. Three easy passes & used up the rest of the lather for slides and chin buffing. About the same DFS I get from a '46-'47 Crat or a #195 on 9 if I'm not trying too hard. No errors, so I skipped the alum again. With the air being harsh I don't need the drying effect from the block. Being Inspired by Dalton @LevelupShaves , I tried Avon's knock-off of Stetson - Wild Country. They do work well together!
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Tuesday January 16 - still Jeeves, different razor

    IMG_00000113.jpg

    English Gillette Flare-tip Rocket / Gillette Platinum Plus ( 3 )
    Simpsons CH2 Synthetic brush
    Jeeves Cherry Blossom soap
Alum and Jeeves Cherry Blossom splash

I don't like my Schick Krona. I got good shaves from it but prefer razors that are all metal or have wood handles. The plastic handle of the Krona - and its resulting very light weight - just didn’t turn my crank. So I dumped it in my trading box today and went with a new razor from my stash that I had never tried before - a hefty all-metal English Rocket with the flared tip.

Excellent shave. I will finish the week with this one, then switch next week to another new razor -- an English Rocket (no flared tip). I don’t know how you date the English Gillettes, but I imagine these come from the same era as the American SuperSpeeds.

John, how is the Cherry Blossom scent from Jeeves? I his aftershaves (and soaps) but wondered about a cherry scent.
