@DaltonGang True story, the majority of the magic happens on the low grit hones, the 1K and 4K are where the foundation is laid. From there you are merely polishing what you have built. Those are probably the two most important hones in my progression. I think the general consensus is the best is the Naniwa Chosera 1K. @Spyder I guess that makes two now. What you say makes sense. Impulsive purchases do not. I wish I had more sense.r
An Escher is a Brand Name..They are Indeed Natural Stones..Its a Branded German Thuringian..There were a Few Brand Names of Thuringians..I have an Escher as Far as I Can Ascertain as it Wasnt Boxed..They Can Vary in Finishing Capacity..Mine has around a 16 K + Finishing Capacity.. I Bought a Labeled Escher in its Box & it was Around 12/13 K..So..They Can Vary Somewhat..There has Been Plenty Written about them in Forums..They Can Pick Up an Edge from around 8 K in a Progression.. There is a Lot of Almost Religious Worshiping in Some Forums Regarding Natural Stones..Escher Thuringians & Coticules in Particular..There is a Wide Variance in Finishing Capacity in Thuringians & that Includes Escher Branded..I Know from Shave Testing from them..Coticules..Well..I Would Suggest that 90 % of the Forum Talk about them is Pure Mince Talk..I have a Lovely Fine Coticule..But..A Fine Coticule isnt Easy to Find.. I Love My Escher Thuri..Its a Fantastic & Consistent Performer..Some Thuringians Dont Perform as Well as Say a 12 K Super Stone..Also..To Muddy the Waters..A Lot of Guys Simply Cant Use a Particular Stone..The Rest is Footnotes to their Incapable Hands.. I haven't had much luck trying to finish with my Coticule yet. I'm talking to someone local that said they should be able to make some time and hopefully I can figure out where Im going wrong. I wasn't grabbing is believed Escher because I needed another hone per se it was part of a lot and I was trying to establish if it was the real deal or not. Most I have seen are grey or green and ive only seen them in pictures while this is almost black.
