Menthol Monday's Shave Proraso Pre Shave TSD Cool Lime JR#217 Synthetic J.A. Henckels Rapide J.A. Henckels wedge CWR Thayer's Lemon WH Pinaud Clubman I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The TSD Cool Lime Stick Shave Soap face-lathered well with the JR #217 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the J.A. Henckels Rapide razor with a J.A. Henckels wedge blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

YESTERDAY'S SHAVE Prep: Musgo Real Oakmoss Razor: Razorock Hawk Brush: Razorock BC Plissoft Soap: Grooming Dept Flight Post: Reef Point Aviator balm Had a swell shave yesterday with GD Flight. The scent reminds me a bit of Mickey Lee Ruby's Green, both have a green tomato note to them, although Flight has a leather note that makes them different but similar. Decided to pair it with RP Aviator balm which is a leather scent. TODAY'S SHAVE Prep: Occams Crushed Lime Razor: Razorock Hawk Brush: Razorock BC Plissoft Soap: Wickhams 1912 Citrus Musk Post: Mickey Lee Italian Stallion milk Smooth shave this afternoon, although not as close as yesterdays shave. The Citrus Musk whipped up a thick lather. Decided to use the Italian Stallion milk, this aftershave milk is a great product and it's a shame it is no longer in production, very soothing stuff. Hope everyone is doing well and getting great shaves!

Holy moly! Nice setup! Incredible green brush! Edit - Upon further reading and inspection of the pictures, I agree it seems like the brush handle needs polish. But I really like the color scheme. You should ask the maker if he could polish it up to gloss on the finish. It's a nice looking design for a brush IMO. Just needs more care to give it that gleem.

January 2018 Shavettes and Jeeves January! January 21 - Jeeves Samples Day 4 Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy Blades - (2) Soap - Jeeves of Hudson Street Velvet Jacket Brush - Jayaruh #54 Post - Alum We have a change to the program tonight. You'll notice the picture shows Jeeves Private Study but the soap I actually used is Velvet Jacket. No mistake, just the fact I discovered that Private Study is Bay Rum in an earlier package. I have the Bay Rum in a container and have used it lots so I moved on to Velvet Jacket, which is touted as being Tobacco and Bay Leaf scented. Back to the Fatboy and Voskhod and the JR54 for the lather. Lather was easy and plentiful, as is to be expected from Jeeves. The scent, however, leaves much to be desired. Not that it's a bad scent. Nor that it's an offensive scent. Basically, it's no scent at all that I can really detect. Some soaps do have a subtle scent, like the Abyss, but this one is so subtle it pretty much isn't there. I had my wife try smelling it without telling her what I was looking for and she finally said she could just barely detect some bay leaf. Disappointing. Soaps don't have to be offensive in how strong their scents are and, in fact, subtlety can work very well. But if you really can't detect the scent what's the point? Arko is easy to lather and cheap. So is VDH. So is Williams (for some). If the scent profile isn't enough to add something to the shave then it's throwing money away to pay more than those three standards. I'm not done with this one yet. I left a good lather in the bowl with what's left of the sample and bagged it until tomorrow. Sometimes that will help the scent become more dominant. One final note on scent, I always squeeze the lather out of the brush before rinsing and play with it in my hand to determine its thickness etc. The soap feels great, lathers great, is slick as it should be, but even after the squeeze test I can barely detect a scent on my hand. Usually I can smell the soap for the rest of the evening even after rinsing off. As for the shave? Two pass, touch up, BBS. No complaints with that at all.
Cyril R Salter is a '10' in performance for me. Just incredible during and post-shave. It's one of my favorite soaps, but mine is Sandalwood scented.

Much Smoother I used a blade new to me, but highly rated - Personna Platinum. I also dialed down to about Midway on the razor and this shave was very comfortable, though not as close as before. My face feels great, but I will likely have five o'clock shadow later. Tomorrow I will open it up a bit more to see if the blade really is that much smoother. The lather was super slick and thick and I really enjoy this scent.
