  8. I used to work with a fantastic drummer, who used to translate like that, with excellent English or Latin for the other musicians who were using a little too much of the "Vernacular of the Street" shall we say....This cat was a riot, and always cracked everybody up.....I also heard, sometimes when some Jazz Guy would let fly with a tirade of profanity that Charlie Parker, in a very polite and academic manner would translate said tirade with the Queen's English....and it never failed the kill everybody...

You know Jazz Players from the '40's were famous for some of this profane street talk, but they say when Charlie Parker spoke, there was a noticable lack of slang, and he always spoke very eloquently...except when he might use the Street Vernacular too make a perticular point...Example, discribing when he met Dizzy Gillespie he said, " And aside from being a gentleman possessing an articulate wit, this young man also played what one might discribe in the vernacular of the street as,"beaucoup trumpet"...." Lol, thats how the greatest Jazz player of all spoke!
