@9nein9 I’d echo this completely. Right down to making a test lather to take to the breaking point. You might be amazed how much water a soap will take.

    - Colonial General
    - Omega 80266 Boar
    - Stirling Sandalwood
    - Stirling Gentleman A.S.

My General hasn’t seen any use since November, so I grabbed it for my safety razor this week. Great shaver.

I'm finally caught up. I have no idea how many posts I just read on this thread and others, but it was a ton. For awhile, I thought I had been be transported to a motorcycle forum with all of the pics of pretty bikes! Not only does one get to see razor-porn, but also bike-porn! Outstanding! :happy096:

Thank you. I’m trying to use these up. So they won’t just hang out like they have done for the last few years. I’ll probably import some Russian steel soon though.

    Prove it.

We have a tradition on the fifth of July, or Cinco de Julio, that involves two popsicle sticks, a razor blade, and some staples. You probably want to work on your technique a bit before then, but you have plenty of time.

Great pic, Jared! Sounds like you had an excellent shave away from home! I like most Sandalwood scents. How do you like the Stirling variety?

Some of my best shaves have been Inspired. After viewing SOTD, or right here in the 30 DC I'll see a combo of hardware & software that I can match or get close. The daily themes make it easy - Williams Wednesday!

    Thanks, Jim!

My wife really likes it too, so bonus.

    I'll drink to that! :eatdrink047:

I agree, Rick. Someone posts their shave and it plants an idea or two for my own.

So out of Focus, but I don't care!

    Vintage Williams Stick soap
    B-400 Omega 98 boar
    Suribachi & warm water
    Gillette Z-1 Flare Tip
    Astra SP blade
    Pinaud S.R. AS

I molested the Williams and I'm proud! ;)
Don't have a puck of Modern W, but this old stick is better anyways. No scent besides vaguely soapy, so I gave it three drops of tobacco & leather and hit it with the boar bristle. Kept adding water and it just got shinier. Inspired by James @9nein9 and his Super Speed, I grabbed up one of mine. Checking the charts, a Z-1 is a First Year Flare Tip from 1954. Amazing how well these work horse tools still work. Popped in a fresh ASP and swiped away four latherings just because the Williams kept going. Missed a little stubble on my lower neck, but I tend towards aggressive DE's and I was being careful not to apply pressure. Otherwise it's close to BBS from this combo. Carried the scent over with a handful of Ed's good stink that will be on my pillow in the morning.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

So who else has done the popsicle stick shave? I guess my next question is who thought of this idea anyway?
