    Way off Focus, but for a Limited Time;

    Route 66 Barbershop Hop
    B-400 Tuxedo brush
    Suribachi & warm water
    Blackbird; short handle, OC
    Astra Superior Platinum
    Pinaud Clubman

Thanks to James @LOOT for the loan of his polished stainless steel Blackland Blackbird. I'm in awe of the fit and finish, and impressed by the quality of my first use of this modern 3 piece.

I chose Route 66 knowing it gives slick, gloopy, strong residual, ++ good lather. Warmed the ceramic dish, soused the soap, and gathered my calm for a relaxing, yet exciting shave. The razor is heavy, and I picked the shorter handle. Not the smooth curve of most DE's. This cap has plains like a Krona though the edges are smoother. Weather that's from the polishing or the way the other finishes arrive - it doesn't have corners to catch. It just about tells the user where the angle of attack will be. Well, after some reading some users had a little difficulty at first. I found it on my first WTG N to S pass. Felt my beard before relathering - effective! Second pass ATG and generally S to N was just as smooth. I did feel the "sucking" of the razors head that's been attributed to the cap helping with skin stretching. Another quick face feel between lathers and I knew I'd found the angle. My XTG that's mostly ear to nose & slides on my neck just about took care of any remaining stubble. Echos of Decadent December that has transformed into Use up the Soaps Marathon (not participating) means I make more lather than I need, but it's good lather. So I did my usual clean up passes; Chin buffing both N to S above my jaw & S to N just under, and a couple extras on the L & R of my throat. Rinsed, dried, and applied AS to realized there was very little drag from the towel. Not everywhere, but mostly a BBS. Before I return this beauty I can see it a dolphin visiting.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

(addendum;one weeper that appeared after I used AS. Chin left side. Looks like I applied pressure right at the cleft below my lip)

    January 26 - Fat Friday!
    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy
    Blades - sharp-star.jpg (1)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Post -Alum

It's FAT FRIDAY!! Well, Fatboy Friday but I see others also using the FAT for their soap and I like that idea. Plus I'm kind of a FAT guy, so there you go. Fat guy, Fatboy razor, Fat soap.

I don't have a "fat" blade or brush, so can't keep this theme going which is probably a good thing. I chose the Sharp Star because I need a reliably sharp and smooth blade. The cut from two nights ago is still a bit of an issue so I need to not reopen it if possible. Soaked the Fat and the brush for about 15 minutes and loaded a nice brush of soap. Great lather, slick, protective, and I kept the Fatboy on the cap and made it through two full passes and touch ups without even a scratch. Excellent shave and the alum stayed quiet. That's the way to end a Friday shave.

Back at work tomorrow. My days off have been flexing a bit lately so I just had my weekend on Thursday and Friday. Enjoy your weekend while I have late Monday.

I thought that looked like Louisiana. That scene was filmed in Fuzzy's @wchnu area.

First stop in Louisiana is the town of Morganza, by the Mississippi, about 30 miles northwest of state capital Baton Rouge. The town seems to have missed out on a major tourism opportunity here, as the scary redneck café, which stood on the east side of Gayden Road just south of Campbell Street, has been torn down. You can still see the entrance steps, which now lead to an empty plot of land. - Movie Locations .com

Broke out the vampire razor with the pointy tip and heal. No nicks, no blood and no irritation, plus a very smooth face. I have been just missing the epic shave rating but today was epic. I think the Haslinger will fall next week.

Friday night January 26 - Fatboy, MWF Fat and overweight shaver Friday; Jeeves January

Delta Echo Ink black Gillette Fatboy on 4 / vintage Gillette Platinum Plus (4 or 5)
Semogue Owners Club cherrywood boar brush
Kent / MWF In beechwood tub
Alum and Jeeves Bay Rum splash

    IMG_00000129.jpg

I don’t usually souse pucks but my MWF was looking shrunken and cracked after sitting unused in the loose-lidded wooden tub for a couple months. While my boar brush soaked for a few minutes, I poured some water on the puck and let it sink in. By the time I shaved, the puck looked bigger and smoother than it does in the photo. A heavy loading of the brush quickly produced lots of creamy lather.

Two quick passes of the Fatboy on Setting John and I had a good DFS with no irritation and no weepers.

I'm not sure how many shaves are on this blade. It still felt okay. However, for simplicity, I have decided to go back to a standard "3 and out" with all my DE blades, so I binned it. (For the sturdier injector and Gem SE blades, it's "7 and out".)

Hope everyone is on track for a good weekend!
