Pre-shave:- Cold Water straight from the tap
Brush:- Stirling Finest Badger 26/54mm knot
    Soap/Cream:- Stirling ~ Bay Rum
    Razor:- Rockwell 6C (R5)
    Blade:- Gillette Nacet #1
Post-shave:- Thayers Witch Hazel / Lucky Tiger Aftershave & Face Tonic
    Fragrance:- YSL L’Homme

WOW!! The Rockwell R5 base plate is the smoothest shave without any razor burn and irritation using the Gillette Nacet, if you guys own a Rockwell razor start using the base plate #R5 along with Gillette Nacet throughout your whole shave is absolutely amazing.

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Derby Stick Shave Soap face-lathered well with the JR #217 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Gem 1902 Lather Catcher Razor using an Original Gem Cutlery SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Face wash w/warm water
    Shavette w/2use blade
Amplify bar soap used as a shave stick(more on that in a sec)
    china boar brush
2 passes and a touch up
    cool water rinse w/face cloth
    Florida Water a/s

The Amplify bar soap comes in a gift set w/shampoo and cologne spray.Amplify is one of those "our version of" fragrances ,the fragrance itself is just kind of sweet smell with no exceptional qualities.Just mild and sweet sticks around at a low level for 6-8 hours. The soap has the same fragrance but appears to be tallow and you can get good dense cushiony lather out of it.Around xmas the set runs around 7-10 bucks, after xmas u can get it for 3-4 bucks on clearance.

The shavette is coming back to me as I use it,getting better each time. That was evidenced by the use of the FlH20 with no burn!

One day I'll get around to doing the photo setups that some of the other guys do.Mine will be nowhere as polished as theirs. Some of those guys need to work for ad agencies.

Tonight's shave was with an old Stubtail. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, that left me with a DFS. Zero issues, even though I was hurried along.

Razor- W.Greaves & Sons. Near Wedge, Stubtail.
    Brush- Omega Boar
    Soap- Arko/Sandalwood Scented
    Aftershave- Florida Water

I realized that now because I've been using the R4 and the R2 base plate for a very long time, and I didn't even try the R5 when I got the Rockwell for so long, I can't believe I've been so bloody blind because the R5 was absolutely amazing truly out of this world.

I have been getting progressively worse shaves from my favorite Gold Dollar 100 over the last few months. I was wary.
So I stropped the GD #100 75 times on a green pasted strop, 40 times on a canvas strop, and finally 100 passes on leather.
I was ready with a back up. Good thing. I think this razor needs to be honed. 1st pass and the blade tugged a LOT.

Very smooth 2nd pass with the Parker resulted in a nice BBS/DFS shave (BBS cheeks & neck but DFS under the chin).
I even got a small nick under my nose. That was disappointing, but the styptic stopped the blood quickly.

    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (6)
    Blades - [IMG] (1)
Soap - Jeeves of Hudson Street Bay Rum
    Brush - 30 DC LE
    Post -Alum

Saturday night and we are close to the end of the month. Don't want to try a shavette yet with the remnants of the cut, but I can certainly do Jeeves again. The Bay Rum with the 30DC LE for the lather win.

Fatboy with Sharp Star for the big win as two passes and touch up work brings the near-BBS. Wife is happy because she loves the scent of this soap. I need to get a true Bay Rum again just to do a comparison. I've gotten very used to the Jeeves take on Bay Rum. Definitely a great variation. All in all a great shave tonight.

We are just four days away from February and it's time to pick out some Favorites. Razor(s), Soap(s), Brush(es), you get the idea. It's also time to make sure you've voted on the MEET UP thread in the Chatterbox. I'll be setting the date for the big event this summer by the end of next week.

I picked up a travel scuttle too. I will be using it tomorrow also. I was not lucky enough to get the aftershave but the two gals in the house really like the scent of the soap. Enjoy the shave/day Guy.
