It’s been a crazy week getting settled into the new house. I finally had time for an SOTD. Mitchell’s Wool Fat Soap B-400 Brush by Tom Brian Brown Razor Works Razor Lucky Tiger Ogallala Bay Rum Have a blessed Sunday!
A quick update... for the past two days, I've been using the English Flat Bottom Tech with a Gillette Platinum Plus blade. Yesterday's shave was a great two-pass shave; today was a somewhat rushed one-pass shave resulting in a CCS with no issues. I will probably finish out the month on this blade and switch over to Injectors for at least the beginning of February. For those who are wondering, my brother is doing better. He did not have a stroke but did have a series of seizures. One tonic seizure was bad enough to fracture and dislocate both shoulders. He had surgery on Friday to repair the damage and is being transferred to a rehab today. Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes.
Brian I hope things will settle down for you soon. I can only imagine how busy you've been. You certainly have an all star cast in the SOTD with a great looking razor and brush.
Thanks for the update on your brother. I am glad that it was not a stroke. My prayers for his quick and complete recovery.
I am glad your brother didn't have a stroke, but sorry to hear about the seizures and shoulders. I am praying for his recovery.
I took off .5 points for the local water...i mean, look at the effort to have an epic international shave only to use local water? The horror. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
I am normally not much of a selfie guy, but if this isn't the best way to end a great weekend, I don't know what is.
After 3 shaves into my 30 rule, I'm concentrating less on a BBS shave and more on riding the cap and getting a feel for my razor/blade combination. Proud to say my lather has gotten better and the irritation seems less now . I'm using the shaverboy blades for this instead of going through my samplers as I'm looking for consistency over the smoothest shave . I would also like to say a big "Thank You" to all who have offered advice and guidance. You guys are so valuable to us newbies with your knowledge and experience in shaving . Happy shaves everyone.
Double report, almost to the end of the Haslinger Sunday's shave featured a big smiling razor, Silverloaf western grind kami. This is a weekend razor as I have to be careful my fingers are dry and use the alum to ensure a good grip. The smile and size make it a pleasure to shave with and it delivered a nice shave. I loaded it with a fresh 7'Oclock Blue in homage to the cartel. I was reminded why this is my favorite and launched me down the path to the dark side. It has a lot blade feel and the big gap makes it easy adjust my angle as I shave.
