Monday morning shave. This is the newest soap I have purchased, and this is only my third or fourth time using it. Hands down coolest artwork on any of my soaps. This is Dr. Jon’s new Vegan formula, and is a pretty big change from their Tallow formula. I didn’t like how soft the Tallow formula was. This one makes thick easy lather, and the scent is amazing. If you like lavender, track this down. This is one of the few soaps I will be looking for the EdT that matches. Their scent description is “Flowers in the Dark captures the scent of lavender with a soothing undertone that is somehow familiar yet unnatural. After the lavender fades all that remains is something resembling coffin wood and ozone, a disturbingly pleasant combination.” I soused the soap while I showered, and the whole room smelled awesome. Used my well broken in Omega Boar, and kept adding water until I got a great slick shiny lather. Three smooth passes with my Osiris Bladeworks 6/8 Spanish tip, and a very comfortable DFS. Topped it off with more Flowers in the dark for a great shave.

Thank you Keith. I normally gravitate toward badger brushes with scrub and lots of backbone. This Thater will be a real joy to use since it is so different from most of my other brushes.

Wow what a fantastic photo Adam. The artwork and scales on the razor just tie together so well. I love lavender so I will have to remember this soap for sure.

I like it it definitely lathers pretty easily. It’s a little drying though.

I am not sure, honestly. I got these from @Linuxguile and his Andrew's Shave Shop. He sent them to me taped together in sets of five, so there was no magazine or anything like that. I bet he can chime in.

    Thank you, Clint!

I'm sticking with the proraso green lol, since i stopped " painting the fence" with it and just giving my brush a dip and finishing the lather on my face...results have been greatly improved

    Razor: '48-'49 Gillette Milord
    Blade: Gillette Platinum Plus (4)
    Brush: VdH Boar
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

I started this journey with the VdH Luxury Set, the one with the green bowl. I used the brush regularly for over a year until I got my first synthetic. I didn't have serious issues with shedding until I tried to go back to it after using the synthetic for a while. I likened it to a jealous girlfriend who goes to pieces if you even *look* at another woman.

Recently, I've been reading some threads about cleaning and caring for older brushes and saw something about Boar bristles drying out and becoming brittle. So, taking the various pieces of advice to heart, I pulled out my old VdH brush and soaked for a while yesterday in water with some glycerin. This morning, I took it for a run.

Honestly, I have to say that the soaking made a difference. I still noticed a few shed hairs, but nothing like its worst. Rather, it was more like when I was using the brush every day. I think I'll stay with it for a couple of days and see what happens.

The Milord and Platinum Plus make a very efficient and slightly aggressive combo. Two-pass BBS with one small issue from a technique fail.

Jim that is a great photo, and happy belated birthday!
A couple of great looking shaves, Keith!
I have an MMOC and an MMCP that I will be trying in the future, hopefully they treat me better then the 1924.
That is an absolutely gorgeous new brush, Clint!
The shaves may be boring, but the picture aren't! Good job Jim!
Fantastic photo, Perry! I love grapefruit, I'll have to snag some of that Stirling next time it comes around.
    Awesome shot, MArk!
The PAA slant looks awesome, but that's some wicked overhang!
    Very Nice Jason!
    Awesome color matching, Adam!

Jason, here is how they come packaged in bulk, the best price that I've found them for (short of ordering a case of 5000) is from Connaught Shaving, low shipping cost from the UK too.

Thank you, Andrew! I don't have any other grapefruit scents to compare it to but this one is really nice.

It’s a scary amount of blade exposure but there’s almost no gap and the angle is pretty mild.

That is a great tip on soaking the brush to correct or prevent shedding.

    Simpson's CH2 Synthetic ' The Soap Destroyer'
    Stirling Mountain Man
    Stirling Iced Pineapple

Had quite the busy day yesterday. My wife and I picked up her bother from the airport and spent the day visiting with him and her parents. My father in law was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, but we are not sure what type or what treatment options he will have until the biopsy results come back. Tomorrow he will meet with a surgeon to schedule a surgery to remove a large tumor from his left cheek and jaw that is impacting some of the facial nerves and is causing him a considerable amount of pain as well as interfering with his eyesight in that eye and his ability to swallow. It was a good day of visiting but also hard at the same time as his health is rapidly deteriorating, hopefully he will be able to start treatment soon and at the very least slow down the progression of the cancer. When we finally did make it home and got Logan put down for the night I decided to opt for a night shave as my wife had some work to catch up on to get ready for this morning.

The shave was so smooth and after a week of somewhat harsh shaves with the Ever-Ready 1924 it was so nice to finish a shave without the slightest hint of irritation. The Soap Destroyer took a big bite out of the remaining Stirling Mountain Man. I will take a pic when I get home this afternoon, but my guess is that it only has two more shaves left in it. I finished off with a splash of Stirling Iced Pineapple AS, just because I wanted a slap of menthol and it smells so awesome! Three passes left me just short of BBS as I missed a couple of spots on the third pass. I hope you all have a great Monday!
