Cold River Jeff’s Soap

AS you can see by the photo, the Jeff's Soap was on the way out. While trying to load the brush with the remaining soap, the little pieces just would not cooperate. So I decided to press the remaining pieces onto the top of the Fine Platinum I used yesterday. I often do this when a tub gets down to the last remants. Adam, @Drygulch , could you put me down for 1 soap done in 2018. With that issue settled, I was able to load and lather easily. I changed up the routine and went with 2 passes, XTG followed by ATG. I did have a little more touch ups along my jawline and lower right neck but the end results where the same near perfect shave. A splash of Fine Platinum and I am ready for the day. The actual shave was a one pass CCS. This shave was different in that I have a couple of first use items. I got a Stirling shipment yesterday. So my efforts to reduce my inventory this year have resulted in a net zero change. I got a puck of Stirling Green and Rose soaps, and I broke out the Green this morning. I also got this badger brush, which is the first Badger I have purchased in a long while. My first use with this brush was pretty positive. It had nice backbone and did a decent job of building a nice lather. The scent is very similar to Polo, although it has been so long since I have smelled the original, I couldn't say if it was an exact match. I did get spousal approval as I was heading out the door, so that is good.

I should also take a moment to thank/blame @PickledNorthern as it was his enabling they led to this purchase.

This was definitely a great start to my day. I hope everyone has a great day!

 

Usual interesting filter effects. Although I would kind of like to see the actual brush sometime. I believe Jared has spoken very highly of the Sterling as an excellent but economical badger brush, hasn't he?

 

Here is the same pic without the filter so you can get an idea of what the handle looks like. Jared has spoken highly of these brushes for their price point.

 

You have certainly gone through that tub of Jeff's Soap briskly. Mine has barely had the loading ripples smoothed off the top of the soap... Good sharp picture too.

 

Thanks. The marbling on the handle is quite striking. Jared did make them sound tempting but I already have three good badger brushes so I choked that particular impulse off...
