Pecan?

I am intrigued by the strangest things.

 

Regular folks say "pee can", snooty folks say "pa khan",... I ain't snooty!

 

Pa-khan all the way....and I'm from the sticks!

 

And I say "vase" the same way I say race, got no respect for those who say "vaahz!

 

I've heard that 'bout you "Bammy" boys!

And no, I have no idea what I mean by that.

 

A yankee was traveling in the South and stopped at a roadside store. He asked the proprietor, "Do you have any pee-cans?" The proprietor replied, "No, but we do have some old buckets out back."

Actually there are four pronunciations
Pee-can
Pee-kahn
Puh-can
Puh-kahn

I'm from North Georgia and say puh-kahn and my grandmother used to say a pee-can was what you kept under the bed during the winter.

Perhaps this is a good time to also introduce the Water Fountain or Bubbler question.
