Spend more time loading. Then some more. Then a little more. I have never used WSP, but the soaps you are comparing it to are all pretty “explosive”.

So I’ve decided I’m sticking with DR Harris this week because it’s always a fav. Next week I’ll start mass market to artisan comparison with Arko and Clubman vs B&M Seville and Fine American Blend

Looking down the barrel of one of the finest razors ever designed. If you're a newbie, and you want a DE for everything...the Gillette 195 'Fat Boy' is the razor you want. Nine razors in one, heavy brass construction and nice knurling give this razor the feel of well made tool. It's absolutely my fave TTO and fave adjustable. Today it was paired with my fave lanolin soap. I used Veg after my fine setting nine two pass DFS. Why? Because you'd all be disappointed if I started out Fave Feb with anything less heroic than Pinaud's tribute to the act of being a hero itself. Spring is coming, I am ready, still nuts and still shaving. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado!
    Have a superb Friday!

I was just looking at my list and thought you had made it. So.......do you want a tuck of blades now or do you want me to save them up for when (ok if) you fall off the wagon? Your choice.

I think I’m going with now unless it’s a shipping nightmare for you. I have Voskhods and I’ve never used Rapiras I would love to give them a shot.
Also if I get shaving stuff for Valentine’s Day am I out?

    Razor - Gem MMOC
    Blade - gem-carbon-steel.jpg Gem Carbon (1)
    Soap - Stirling Executive Man
Brush - Stirling Pro Style Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Second day of my OCMM Rule and it's a bit of an early shave for me. I have an early Doctor appointment tomorrow so trying to get some extra sleep time. We'll see how it goes.

The Stirling soap of the day is Executive Man. I've never used this one though I have used the bath soap in this scent. Decided I could match it up with the shave soap too. The Stirling Pro Style had no difficulty in loading and providing a nice slick lather. Excellent stuff.

I'm finding the carbon blade with this razor less than smooth, or maybe I should say less smooth than I expected. I've used carbons in DE razors and I know they aren't as smooth as stainless in most cases, but this one seems a bit less smooth than even DE carbons. I suspect it's because it's a thicker blade since it's SE. It's not a problem, really, just a surprise when I first start. It's something I'll get used to. The stainless Gem blade is certainly a smoother blade but also sharper and, therefore, a bit more of a risk in this razor. Besides, Fuzzy uses carbon blades and I want to shave like the cool kids.

Two passes and some touch ups and I was happy to find a DFS waiting for me. The alum was definitely warm on the neck but nothing horrible and there was, again, no blood. So far I'd say things are progressing well with this Rule.

Great to see some great favorites out there so far! Looks like a great month already well underway!

If someone gives you a gift of shaving stuff then no, you are not out. It's only if you purchase something. Gifts don't count. Rapira it is - so which Rapira? Swedish Supersteel, Chrome (red/white/blue super stainless), Super Stainless (pink/blue/white), Platinum Lux, or Swedish Supersteel? Let me know and PM me your address!

I'm going with the Super Stainless. It's a bonus puck too since they are the only one with 10 in a puck. The Swedes are really good too. But I think the Super Stainless are a bit on the sharper side.

Some good advice that I got on the thread for the upper neck/jawline is to skin stretch ‘up’ from the jawline so that the problem area is a little flatter. As well, you can open your mouth like you are yawning to achieve a similar effect.
2 soaps down and it has only been a month!
Congrats on the great shave, Keith.
I was really enjoying the write up, Chris, until you lost me with the Cat urine tribute...
Are the carbon blades vintage, Neal? Is there a difference between modern carbon and vintage ones?

  20. NCoxSTL

They are new blades. Not NOS. I have tried vintage carbon blades in DE's before. You can definitely tell a difference.
