Randy, I'm sorry about your week at work. Those situations are tough, and unfortunately it takes time to process things. At least you have a weekend to reflect and chill. I'm also sorry for the other person. No telling what was going on in that person's mind, but I'm 100% sure they misread the situation.

I loved my job 95% of the time, but I hated the conflicts that inevitably came with it. I don't miss those times at all. Pass the cookies, please.

    Fabulous Feb Sunday Shave

I went with a gilded, thumb notch, shoulderless and fancy scales straight for today's shave. Still trying get through this tub of CF, this is truly a little goes a long way cream. I over loaded it and after 4 passes I had enough for another 4 passes.

The edge was fantastic, the soap slick and protective and wonderful shave for Sunday.

    - Simfix Synthetic
    - Stirling Glastonbury Soap and AS

So Simpson and Vulfix came out a new synthetic collaboration. It is much more reasonably priced than their other synthetic offerings, at right about $35 delivered from the UK. It is a very similar size and shape to the Duke 3.

It is slightly bigger than the Duke. The knot is sized at 24mm vs 23, a couple more millimeters of loft, and a lathe turned handle that has a few more grams of heft.

The fibers are definitely not the same. It requires that same Simpson quirk to get it to splay. Anyone who has used a Simpson synth knows what I mean. They like a sort of angled push to get them to splay, and then you need to keep it that way. This brush is no different, but it is not nearly so soft as what I have come to expect from synthetic brushes. This brush actually had some scritch to it. Almost like a medium grade Best Badger. It was not the feel I was expecting.

I give it an A on appearance, an A on quality, and am withholding judgement on the performance til I use it a few times. I will pack it for work next week and let you know what I think after some more use.

    The Like I need more soap Report;

I checked the website - none listed. Love me some patchouli.

That I can do. Just a couple blocks away, although I may have a puck coming from Houston when my stash of Horse mane & tail comes back from the Autoclave treatment. I really don't want anthrax, but I do want to try making a horse hair brush knot or three.

Ok I think I have time to rewind and catch up here. It has been a busy night at work and across the street.

3rd day with the NEW and Nacet. I find the performance of this soap as good as anything I’ve got, and the scent is one of my favourites. A rare 2 pass shave resulted in pretty much a DFS. Good stuff.
Have a great Super Bowl Sunday tomorrow, all!

BULLY!!! Leave it uncovered awhile. I like that scent some don't. Not molesting to drop a few drops of the after shave of the day on the cake.

That is one fine shavette. You will find it amazingly easy to run. Charge!!!!

    Razor - Gem MMOC
    Blade - pal-blue-carbon-steel.jpg Pal Blue Carbon (1)
    Soap - Stirling Mountain Man
Brush - Stirling Pro Style Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Switching blades to the Pal Blue Carbon tonight. Fuzzy is going to rescue me with a better choice of carbon blade but until help arrives I've got to figure out a temporary solution. The Stirling soap/brush combo produced mountains of lather and the scent of Mountain Man is one of my faves. Takes me back to the days I used Nautica cologne.

I'll say this for the Pal blade. It's a bit smoother than the Gem was. But it's still not what I'd call a great blade unless I'm just expecting too much. I did finish two passes and touch up for a near-DFS. I'm sure if I could get it smoothed out the results will improve as well.

As far as the OCMM goes, it's really a great feel in the hand and the angle is getting to be more automatic. No complaints there. Hope you have plans for the Super Bowl tomorrow - either to have fun watching or have fun ignoring it!

Another awesome Williams shave today with the Bunny. This time with the middle plate. Seemed like not much was happening during the shave. Once it was over though....holy cow that was a nice shave. The new horse brush knocked the older Williams into it's usual great lather. Finished up with classic "I smell like a old guy" Brisk.
