I shaved with a sample of Barristers Reserve Lavender this morning. Normally I’m not a big lavender guy, but I really enjoyed the scent of this one a lot.

Stayed with the favorite FB for the win! Switched the soap over to Ingram cream. It's a nice light menthol cream, I got it in the U.K. Last spring. I really enjoy the skinfeel and the menthol is just right. Two passes to bliss, kept it heroic at the end. Working on a setup for today. Hope everyone has a grand afternoon. Not much on TV today, so I will likely just drink super pricey Chinese black tea, paint watercolors and play bass. Woke up to 15f and snow, but dim sum with a few close associates made the morning, Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

Inspired by recent page views I got next to last use of this soap sample to lather up. Still like the Pro barber shape of the handle Jim made and that Maggard Sunrise knot keeps chugging along. Looked through my rack of DEs and found a Feather Hi-Stainless blade in the '46-'47 Crat. So I did have opportunity to get in the shave suggested by James @LOOT before sending his Blackland back home. Sharp blade in an aggressive razor? Yee Haw! Three passes and I mostly skipped the cleanup since I nicked myself around my chin. In three different places. Felt great having a razor remind me I'm only nominally in control. It was a good day to pull out the alum block. No report except for the placed where I faux pas-ed on my chin. Bye bye Blackbird ! It was fun getting to know you

Thank you Jim! When I quit really looking for them is when I found the best ones. Shopping the bay is shooting expensive fish in a barrel. Best deals are few, far between, and in the wild.

 

Hey guys. No shave for me this weekend. I’ve been trying to catch up on posts but not doing a good job.

Yesterday, I went out to mom’s house to take care of some minor chores and found she wasn’t feeling well. She said she was feeling like she had the flu maybe. She looked pitiful so I was worried. The weather was about to turn nasty on us. I spent the night at her house to take care of her and drive her into the hospital if needed. Today she’s feeling much better and I’m feeling relieved.

Staying with her one more night. We’re about to watch the Super Bowl together. Well... we were. She just left the room. She’s not a big football fan. She may be making a run for it.

Hope to participate in Menthol Monday tomorrow.

I have a good sharp edge on the Bismarck, it passes my “ATG on the Neck” test just fine, but tonight wasn’t as comfortable of a shave as I usually hope for. I had a super shiny lather from the Sheep Soap, so I know that wasn’t my problem. I don’t remember if I finished this blade on film or not, but maybe a few laps on the Black Arkansas are what it needs to smoothen out. Landed safely in the DFS category, but a quick pass with the alum confirmed what I already new. It was hot.
