Full Disclosure- the 3 razors that I posted that I would use for this Favourites month were the NEW LC, pre-war Fat Handled Tech and a Schick E Injector...great minds, etc.

Yes, I knew it was based on Sun Up, but have never used Sun Up or any of the clones like PAA's. I have the Spice and the Cool, and love them both, but didn't get the Classic at the time. I look forward to your review.

-Stirling Hot Apple Cider Soap and AS

Today was one of those days where we never saw zero, and the wind blew all day. And I am not exaggerating when I say that I daydream about a hot shave with this soap at the end of the day. It didn’t disappoint.

I don’t know what to say about this brush. I know I’ve only used it twice, but I am gonna be hard pressed to want to use it for a third. If you ask me, it’s like the synthetic version of a pure badger. It’s floppy, but hard to splay at the same time. So then you have to use a lot of pressure to splay it, and use a forwardish angle to keep it that way, and it is prickly. Not scritchy, but prickly. Almost exactly like a pure badger, but you are using force. So not the most pleasant. And I really enjoy a scritchy brush from time to time.

The first time I used it, I really loaded the heck out of the knot, which kind of tempered the feel. Tonight I used a stick, and I won’t do it again. I will keep playing with it a little, but I kind of see this one either being PIFfed to a masochist, (and I know we have them around here), or getting a new knot.

Mine is a 3 band as well. I agree with you on the knot. I still can't get over how soft the tips are.

I am so happy I jumped on the ATG group buy and picked this knot. I have considered getting a knot to replace the knot in my RV Rover.

Never thought I would hear of a synthetic brush being prickly or like a pure badger brush. That had to feel even worse after a day in the cold wind.

The brush might work ok for someone that bowl lathers all the time. Maybe.

John, I don't know about Fuzzy, but I don't grow enough hair on top of my head to do a Man Bun. If I let my ear hair go natural I might eventually do the Princess Leia cinnamon buns. I'm cursed with naturally curly hair so I keep it short else it would almost 'Fro up on me. I used to let it grow out, but the ease of maintenance has won out. Older I get, the more my dad is right. If I lived any further North I'd reconsider my choices.

New Formula, or Vintage Shulton? There's a cologne that ought to have more staying power.

Face & Head Shave (3 days growth)
Pre-shave: hot shower & Nivea Men Sensitive Face Wash
    Brush: Barburys synthetic
Cream: Pacific Shaving Co Caffeinated Shaving Cream
    Razor: Gem Micromatic OC
    Blade: Gem Stainless (2)
Post-shave: Assured WH, Nivea Men Cooling PS Balm, Barbasol Brisk AS

Mom is feeling much better so I came home this afternoon. This is only my third shave this month, and the second shave with this Gem OC this month. A single pass on my cheeks with a follow-up pass on the neck gave me a DFS. I didn't get greedy this time and try to catch the baby. A last minute decision and I opted to shave my head again after only three days.... a single pass and some clean-up provided another DFS. I'm ready to relax this evening.

    Happy shaves this week everyone!

I have tried somewhere around 10-12 different types of synthetic knots, and never felt anything quite like it. In all of those knots, I have never really had one where the feel of the bristles changed much with use, so I don’t have very high hopes for this one. I’m glad it wasn’t expensive.

    Fabulous Feb.

Back to work on this tub of Castle Forbes, this stuff just makes tons and tons of lather. I tried to use less but still it filled up the BK 8 and lather was everywhere. By cutting back oin my other hobbies I was able to acquire a razor with a very big smile. I have been curious to see how this big a smile would perform.

The edge it came with was shave ready but I definitely want to fine tune it. I have some other razors with smiles but this is the most radical smile, it is going to take some getting used too. In the end with a few more shaves and putting a sharper edge on it I think it will earn a place in the den.
