A great drama free shave to start the day. The Shavemac Flat Top literally destroys soaps while making a mountain of lather. This brush has the more backbone than any brush I have tried but still manages to have relatively soft tips. The combination is perfect for face lathering. Three passes and touch ups ended in a boringly near perfect shave. A splash of Fine Platinum AS and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a a great Tuesday.

    Gillette Aristocrat Jr
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Clubman Reserve Whiskey Woods

Two passes for a DFS this morning. I just missed a BBS, but I didn't spend any time doing clean up. This soap is disappearing quickly now. I still have a few shaves left, but there is a lot of bottom of the tub showing now. I hope everyone has a great day!

Delta Echoed Gillette Slim on 4 / vintage Gillette Platinum Plus (2 to 5)
Semogue Owners Club cherrywood boar brush
Italian almond frankensoap in old TOBS tub
    Alum and Lucky Tiger

I skipped shaving again yesterday, but with the dreadful description of the Man-bun Manager still fresh in my mind where @RyX placed it, I cleaned up today. I am also going to get the crop of weeds up top slashed by the barber later today.

The picky boar brush whipped up a good Super Goop today in the tub from the Italian croap and then face lathered it well. One of these days I may actually decide I like this brush. The handle wood is beautiful but the knot, gentlemen, the knot...

Two passes with the Gillette adjustable took me from stubble to cleanshaven. Not BBS but certainly clean enough for any social purposes. No squeak from the alum and the Lucky Tiger gave me a great orange-smelling finish.

Stunning sharp photo of your gear today, Clint. Looks like you're experimenting with closeups with limited depth of field?

I like that "crackle" effect your filter gives your photo, Jim. Makes it look like an old oil painting that has developed crazing over time.

Great lineup and photo Jim. Won't be long before the soap bites the dust.

Great looking Delta Echo Slim. The Semogue brushes do get that wild look with use.

Man bun ....don't all guys that wear them have beards? Or am I being stereotypical?

Actually I think most of the ones I have seen have been on guys with "alleged" beards -- that permanent five-day stubble look that is neither cleanshaven nor an honest full-grown beard but somewhere scruffy in-between...

    February 5 (late report)

    Parker SRX shavette
    Gillette Silver Blue (1)
    Simpson Chubby 2 Super
    Castle Forbes Lavender shaving cream
Alum, Thayers Lavender witch hazel, and unrefined shea butter

After just two shaves with the Parker SRX, I'm lovin' it. I completed my normal two passes plus touch ups, and I'm close everywhere. I have some work to do around my chin and mouth area to get closer, and I tend to use a little too much pressure on my neck. This is where practice and focus will help me this month. I'm storing my Weber, as I don't think I'll need training wheels with the shavette after all. Woooooooooo! I'm also trying to use up my CF Lavender shaving cream to get another entry on @Drygulch's list.

So, does using a shavette get me into the Dark Side, or am I stuck in the Shady Side?

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick I1 injector
    Brush: JR #41 badger
Lather: Country Club for Men Cahaba Blues
Post: Witch hazel, Jeeves of Hudson Street Tobacco Bay Leaf aftershave
    WTG, touch up

Nice and easy tobacco shave today. The I1 was terrific and the software combination was also spot on. Very nice in the end.

    Enjoy your day!

Great to hear it's going so well. I have a Magic that I have used once and a Parker SRX I picked up during the Black Friday sales. I am thinking I will take the plunge and do a Rule with one of them during March Madness. Your results are sounding quite encouraging.

I think shavettes should count as Dark Side, although you avoid all that stropping and honing, so maybe they should be the Dark and Lazy Side...
