Outstanding shave. The Vision did it's job effortlessly thanks to the lucious atomic age lather built with my silver surfer brush. The splash burn more than usual, but did not last long.

Man, I love those earthy, gritty scents, and they don't come much more 'racetrack' than 'Gearhead'... great scent, and outstanding performance, as you'd expect from Chiseled Face.. which got me thinking.. have they tweaked the formula, because the lather seemed to whip up lighter than I recall with my other CF soaps, and it felt slicker... maybe it was simply because I used ‘Il Cinghiale’ to do the honours... whatever the reason, Gearhead will (hopefully) always be in my collection. Love it!

February 7, 2018 - "Just Do One Thing" Shave
Hot face wash with Neutrogena Invigorating Face Wash
    VDH Shave Oil
    C. O. Bigelow + 4 drops M-bomb, bowl lathered (Dollar Tree plastic dog bowl)
    Razorock Plissoft
    Gillette Mach 3
Towel off, Thayer's Witch Hazel, alum, Nivea Men's Sensitive Post Shave Balm, Pinaud Clubman
3 passes, touch up, for an Acceptable shave

I've been quite depressed since my chemo last week. Haven't done much of anything. There's a book that's big in cognitive behavioral psychology called "Just Do One Thing." I haven't read the book, but it's pretty easy to determine the gist from the title. So today I decided, "If I do just one thing, I'm going to shave." And I do feel a little better. (I doesn't hurt I'm one of the fortunate few whose wife actually likes Clubman!) The Mach 3 gives me about the same shave as my Milord/Gillette Silver Blue, but without any concern about technique. I hadn't shaved in four days, so I didn't want to risk the DE. I may risk venturing out to my coffee shop this morning to see my friends. (It's been a week. The cold aggravates my neuropathy, and other symptoms have kept me home bound.) Have a great day, everyone! If you're a pray-er, mention me; I'll do the same.

I've seen other people say the scent is cucumber. I don't get it. If it were, I probably wouldn't use it, and VDH Luxury is my go-to soap.

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Personna
    Razor: Personna injector
    Brush: Zenith B02 boar
    Lather: Wholly Kaw Jamestown Gentleman
Post: Witch hazel, RazoRock Blue Barbershop aftershave
    WTG, touch up

Easy shave this morning. The Personna razor is mild....quite mild, but good results nonetheless. Terrific software combination and all came together quite well.

    Enjoy your day!

Thanks. I didn't make it out. It's 25 degrees, which is too much for my cold sensitivity. Plus, it's snowing, 4-6 inches. Maybe I'll make it on Friday.

There's no doubt about it - my 1950's Super Speed is the best razor for me and the Astras are the best blades for me, it's as simple as that. Hell, the Astra I had in my Super Speed gave me an absolutely perfect BBS shave that I had to struggle for yesterday with my Junjie and a Derby on just day three and this Astra is on its SIXTH day. The Polar Vortex soap's lather was so thick and dense, it was flying all over the place, and it hit me with a powerful menthol punch - ok, not as strong as what you'd get from a Glacial soap but still STRONG. The only thing, or I should say two things about this soap I find a bit negative are the scent which is mainly menthol and perhaps a bit of lemon with another note I don't care for and that it's not too skin-friendly compared to Stirling, OSP, TSD, or Krampert's but a little Gold Bond moisturizer fixed that problem right away. The Rubby Dubby Doo went on nice and frigidly. The jury is deciding on the Preferred Stock cologne - so far it seems to smell nice enough. I can't believe how easy this shave was and how smooth I got!

    Have a great day!

Yep. My 1947-1952 era Gillette Superspeed with a BiC Chrome-Platinum blade is my best overall shave. Comfort during the shave, zero irritation and smooth skin after the shave. It does everything I want in a shave and it's so gentle in the feel of the shave that I can do 3-passes without fear of burn or irritation.

This Super Speed I have is so forgiving that 99.5% of the time if I make a mistake I either just a tiny weeper at the very worst, but usually nothing at all. If I were to do that with a Parker R22 I would get a bad cut. I never tried the Bic Chromes, but I heard some good comments about them.
